Prominent Rabbi Calls For the Elimination of Palestinians – Where is Robert Spencer?

Ha’aretz reporter Anshel Pfeffer reported on the remarks of prominent Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, who said in his weekly radio address:

“May our enemies and haters come to an end. May Abu Mazen [Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas] and all those wicked men be lost from the earth. May God smite them with the plague of pestilence, including all those Palestinians.

Wow. He prayed to God for pestilence to afflict “all those Palestinians.” Pfeffer continued:

No better, no worse than previous utterances by the venerable rabbi, 90 in two weeks and still going strong. He has said similar things over the years about Arabs and other non-Jews, singling out for particular attention not only their leaders, but also some Israeli Jewish ones, including the present prime minister.

Yet, this time was different, because Israeli and Palestininan leaders are currently engaged in peace talks with the goal of reaching a final settlement within one year. Thus, his remarks were widely condemned, as Pfeffer explains:

This week, though, the weekly sermon drew wider attention, thanks to its timing, on the eve of the Israeli-Palestinian summit in Washington. So not only did the local Israeli media record his latest pearls of wisdom, with a couple of left-wing politicians issuing the standard condemnations, but the Palestinian leadership also responded angrily, the U.S. State Department denounced the “deeply offensive inflammatory statements,” and even such august bodies as the Anti-Defamation League and the Zionist Federation of Great Britain joined the chorus.

Yet, you know who’s silence has been deafening? Robert Spencer’s, of course!

There has been no such condemnation of the Rabbi’s comments against Palestinians. No condemnation of what appears to be the calling for genocide against an entire people by a very prominent Rabbi. No condemnation of quite inflammatory statements from a religious leader against another people.

Yet, what if he were Muslim? What if a Muslim cleric had recently said something similar about Jews? Spencer would have been all over it. He would have posted it on his blog and spread the contention that this is the true face of Islam, and not just a twisting of its tenes. Spencer would have been screaming, “Islamic Anti-Semitism!”

This is not to deny that such anti-Semitism does exist in the Muslim world, and some Muslim clerics have spewed forth horribly hateful things aginst Jews, Christians, and even other Muslims. Yet, rational people can see that these clerics and fanatics are an aberration, a mutation, and not the norm. Except, it seems, for Robert Spencer.

  1. Spencer probably supports this Rabbi. His partner Pamela has actually called for genocide against Arabs in the past, and says the Golden Dome must go.

  2. Just another way Spencer shows his hypocrisy.

Next time he is doing an interview someone should ask him if he denounces the comments of this rabbi and the acts of violence against muslims.

  3. Yet, rational people can see that these clerics and fanatics are an aberration, a mutation, and not the norm.

Muhammad commanded Muslims to kill Jews and Christians… was he an aberration, a mutation, and not the norm?

    • I am curious to know where you get such information because I have never come across such a proclomation made by Muhammad in any hsitorical or Islamic religious text, but then again if you are relying on spencer for your information please check the footnote or source and state it instead of making such ignorant claims.

    • That is a total lie. I challenge you to bring one statement in context that says Muslims should kill non-Muslims because of their religion.

Prophet Muhammad said, “The Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand people are safe; the believer is the one from whom people’s lives and wealth are safe.” [Sunan An-Nasai #4998]

Muhammad said the true Muslim is the one that does not harm other people. Fighting is allowed in Islam to defend yourself and your basic human rights; this is the same teaching in Christianity and the UN charter.

  4. To Ahni, can you site me a quote by Muhammad where he explicity commands muslims to kill innoncent and peaceful jews and christians who had not made war against the muslims? You make such a huge statement and yet you can’t back it up at all? By the way, has loonwatch been hacked again? At least it happened late at night.

    • Aah Hackers….Why can’t all these ‘Western Civilization’ defenders just leave us be eh? Really makes you wonder what their loud calls for ‘freedom of speech’ are all about

      🙂

    • Islamophobes always make sweeping statements about Islam that they can’t back up with hard facts. They either misquote the Quran and Hadith; or they find something an intolerant Muslim said; or they just flat out lie. We could play that game easily with Christianity; in fact, many atheists do that.

    • As for the unnamed “cleric” who prayed for Allah to destroy the West, Muhamamd didn’t tell him to do that.

Muhammad said, “Those who frequently resort to cursing (people) would neither be accepted as witnesses nor as intercessors on the Day of Resurrection.”
      [Riyad us Saliheen #1553]

As for bearing patiently the insults of racist Geert Wilders, the Quran is very clear:

“And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily, and when the ignorant address them harshly, they say words of peace.” (25:63)

You cannot respond to this evidence except to quote some other verse out of context.

    • Really? The Rabbi said:

May God smite them with the plague of pestilence, including all those Palestinians.

Sounds like he prayed for all Palestinians to get pestilence, which kills people…

  5. Actually the Rabbi said:

“all the evil people who hate Israel, like Abu Mazen (Abbas), perish from our world.”

“May God strike them down with the plague along with all the evil Palestinians who persecute Israel,”

So no, he didn’t call for the genocide of all Palestinians.

I guess spending a few minutes on google is too much work for your guru, Danios.

    • Your Rabbi thinks that all Palestinians de facto persecute Israel. Your Rabbi thinks that Palestine should be ethnically cleansed. Your Rabbi does not believe in a two-state solution. Your Rabbi is a racist bigot. Thanks.

    • So he wasn’t condemning all Palestinians, just all their leaders and anyone who resists the violent expansion of Jewish supremacy. Got it. (sarcasm intended)

  6. @JihadBob
I think it’s peculiar that a trustworthy Israeli news source is saying this. I certainly didn’t see the “…who persecute Israel” part. Why wouldn’t they be more specific?

  7. Ahmed, if you click on the links you’ll see that the trustworthy Israeli news source revised their earlier quotes of the Rabbi.

Now we’ll see if Danios is a man of his word and apologize for his shoddy scholarship, just as he similarly requested Marisol to offer an apology.

    • Trustworthy Israeli newsource? More like seedy hate blog. Do you really think that a obviously biased blog–and I mean OBVIOUSLY BSed blog–is a trustworthy newsource?

      That explains alot.

      • I see you’re not clicking on links or do not understand the written word.

Ynet’s updated story offered a new translation of what the Rabbi said that was markedly different from what the original story alleged.

“Ovadia, who heads the Shas religious party in Israel’s ruling coalition, expressed hope in his weekly sermon Saturday that “all the evil people who hate Israel, like Abu Mazen (Abbas), perish from our world.”

“May God strike them down with the plague along with all the evil Palestinians who persecute Israel,” he said.”

Now compare those quotes from Ynet to the quotes of Ovadia supposedly calling for the genocide of all Palestinians at the top of this page.

The lesson for today is to not believe what we read on useless leftist rant blogs.

  8. Bob Bob Bob,

“May God strike them down with the plague along with all the evil Palestinians who persecute Israel,”

The new translation from right-wing ynet news still incites genocide (Holocaust?) . Unless of course that plague is one that will just tickle the Palestinian children into submission.

So the new translation is a miserable attempt at damage control and it still fails to make the Rabid Rabbi’s words more acceptable. He still calls for the “elimination of Palestinians”.

  9. Calling for the destruction of people who seek to persecute Israel is entirely different from the claims in the OP that the rabbi called for the deaths of all Palestinians:

“Wow. He prayed to God for pestilence to afflict “all those Palestinians.” Pfeffer continued:”

Danios lied and has not offered a retraction or an apology, yet he rants over a story Marisol posted in which he didn’t even have the credibility to quote all of the story, including the authorities who stressed that suspicions remained.

    • Yeah, I’ll trust a right wing blog over the BBC or Yahoo news any day. Because you know, right wing blogs are famous for their objectiveness.

JihadBob, do you really want defend your fellow loon?

-He described the Holocaust as God’s retribution against the reincarnated souls of Jewish sinners–if a Muslim said thet you would be on him like ugly on an Robert Spencer!
-He blamed New Orlean’s Godlessness for Hurricane Katrina
-He also has a history ( an evolving history) of making genocidal remarks against Arabs.
Or is it only radical Islamonazis like Abu Mazzen? Cuz you know, Abbas is the epitome of radicalism (sarcasm)

Damn liberal media treating Muslims as humans!
      http://www.time.com/time/europe/magazine/2000/0821/ovadia.html

You’re growing less credible every day Ji-HaterBob. Add this to your growing and lengthy list of failures.

      • BTW. I might just compile a list of your failures. Let’s see…
        -Defends genocidal and bigoted Rabbi
-Defends racist pastor by pretending Asians, Albinos, and Hispanics can say the N-word without being called racist
-Contradicted himself by saying Islam was tolerated by Pagan Arabs and later said the Pagans opposed Islam
-Irrelevantly brings up hate crimes against Whites; doesn’t know Whites are the majority in the US
-Incorrectly said Muslim women need a Mahram to ride camels
-Wanted to destroy mosque run by mainstream Muslims, albiet formerly run by nutjobs
-played race card several times (didn’t work)
-Calls Hadiths “smokescreen” because he is unable to handle the truth
-was mentally hurt and unable to respond to epic article about “Taqiyya”
-The list can go on and on…

I’m probably going to write “The Politically Incorrect Guide to JihadBob”.

It will include a psychoanalysis of why you (JihadBitch) have a blind and rabid hatred of Muslims.

  10. “Yeah, I’ll trust a right wing blog over the BBC or Yahoo news any day. Because you know, right wing blogs are famous for their objectiveness.”

I quoted the same news source that was quoted in the OP. You should really try and keep up.

“You’re growing less credible every day Ji-HaterBob. Add this to your growing and lengthy list of failures.”

Fascinating, but the facts are that the rabbi was misquoted and the story has not been retracted on this site.

Do you agree or disagree with this fact so far ?

Beyond that, your defense of Danios’ tactics is touching. Let me know if Danios decides to admit he lied, retract the story and offer an apology.

    • JihadBob, your epically pathetic. You can’t deal with the fact your genocidal hero is a nutjob. Just look up his past for goodness’ sake!
BTW, how many “evil” Palestinians would be killed if Abu Mazzen is the standard of radicalism–probably the vast majority of them. Agree or disagree?

  11. JihadBob (Spencer),

Let us assume that Ynet is correct. So instead of saying:

“May our enemies and haters come to an end. May Abu Mazen [Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas] and all those wicked men be lost from the earth. May God smite them with the plague of pestilence, including all those Palestinians.”

    He now says:

“May God strike them down with the plague along with all the evil Palestinians who persecute Israel,”

Wow. Big Difference. In the first quote, he specifies a plague of “pestilence”. Note that pestilence means:

    pes·ti·lence (pst-lns)
    n.
    1. A usually FATAL epidemic disease, especially bubonic plague.

Now in the (supposedly correct) second quote, he leaves the type of plague upto God. Damn! That rabbi is so merciful. Maybe the next update will be that the Palestinians were condemned to death by plaque not plague.

Really, JihadBob? You still think you’re winning this argument. Spencer, sorry, JihadBob. Give it up.

    • Oh and one more thing:

“Calling for the destruction of people who seek to persecute Israel is entirely different from the claims in the OP that the rabbi called for the deaths of all Palestinians:”

But in the Rabbis mind the people “persecuting” Israel are the Palestinians. So he still wants the Palestinians to be afflicted by a plague.

Otherwise the definition of ‘those who persecute Israel’ would include God, who is still not happy about the Golden Calf incident. Oh and the Jesus thing..

  12. Wow I am truly amazed at how this site looks so similar to jihad watch. Good job guys, truly hilarious, I especially love the sidebars.
