Spencer and Geller still Yapping about their “Historic” Rally

Robert Spencer and his goonish friend Pamela Geller, leaders of the hate group SIOA and FDI are claiming that the size of their rally on September 11th, which they billed as the biggest thing ever was huge.

The fact is that it was really not that big, let alone historic. It was definitely not in the 40,000 or more range as Geller and Spencer claim. In fact according to the AP it wasn’t larger than a thousand.

Charles Johnson sums it up well:

Anti-Mosque Rally Attendance: Less Than 1,000

According to the Associated Press, attendance at Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer’s international hate rally was less than 1,000: The Associated Press: Dueling demonstrations begin after 9/11 memorial.

After the ceremony, around 1,000 activists rallied about five blocks from the site of the 2001 attacks to support the proposed Islamic community center. A smaller group of opponents rallied nearby, chanting, “USA, USA.”

UPDATE at 9/11/10 6:27:36 pm:

Hilarious! Geller is claiming 40,000. Who could ever have predicted that?

UPDATE at 9/11/10 6:41:30 pm:

Pamela Geller’s closing words to the seething throng:

As the crowds dissipated, Geller warned them against talking to members of the media: “Do not give them any ammunition. You know who you are. You know that you’re righteous. Do not give them an opportunity to deride this fine and honorable effort. Remember what I’m saying. They’re looking to catch you. Don’t give it to them.”

Listen to Mommy,” she said.

Of course Spencer and company claim that it is a big old conspiracy against those who want to expose Islam, and that the numbers are under reported. Fact is that it isn’t under reported, it is just the their hate rally was “historically” underwhelming.

  1. Just another lie in an ocean of lies. I wonder if she even has an idea what the truth sounds like anymore. One day she may wake up and realize she is a Fascist. But I don’t think so. She is so far from reality that less then 1,000 people seem like 40,000. I guess she and Glen Back went to the same school of accounting.

    • Looks like a bunch of self-serving idiots living on state welfare money have started this hopeless website…good luck to you all on your miserable but inevitable failure!!!

    • She probably won’t realize she is a fascist until she meets God on the Day of Judgment and He holds her accountable for every bad deed she did.

  2. [As the crowds dissipated, Geller warned them against talking to members of the media: “Do not give them any ammunition. You know who you are. You know that you’re righteous. “Listen to Mommy,” she said.]

Lol. It’s ironic cause she herself made Islamophobes look like fools when she gave the warning. “Listen to Mommy” was especially bizzare.

  3. “Less than 1,000.”

    LOL!

Not sure if you’re being sarcastic or not, but they only used half the street and closed off the rest with a divider. And it doesn’t go that far down. Not more than 1000 loons put in cage going bananas.

  4. The article from the AP that Danios somehow managed to quote but not read too carefully actually says the crowd *after* the rally numbered less than one thousand.

In fact, despite pictures of a heavily attended anti-Islamic supremacy rally, the snaps from the loon/leftist rally appear rather barren in contrast.

    • It seems that it is you who have a problem in comprehension. The report clearly states that it is the pro-mosque rally that is 1K, but those who opposed the mosque appeared in far less numbers than the pro-mosque supporters.

    • Darn [Mooslim Islamic Supremacist Leftist Communist StealthJihadists] using camera Jihad to undermine the defenders of Western Civilization!

  5. Yes, after the rally, that’s what the AP article said.

The report clearly states that it is the pro-mosque rally that is 1K

Hence why I said that the anti-Jihad demonstrators, according to the AP article, numbered less than one thousand after the rally was over.

I really don’t understand what so difficult to comprehend what I wrote.

I almost feel a bit embarrassed for you.

*My follow up comment about the size of the loon/leftist rally simply called into question the AP’s claims that their rally numbered one thousand when all pictures from their counter-demonstration show only a few dozen to maybe in the low hundreds attended.*

    • Actually, the AP article said “after the ceremony” not “after the rally”:

After the ceremony, around 1,000 activists rallied about five blocks from the site of the 2001 attacks to support the proposed Islamic community center. A smaller group of opponents rallied nearby, chanting, “USA, USA.”

So there was a ceremony and then the Spencer-Geller anti-American, pro-fascist hate rally afterward, of which less than 1,000 attended, and of which Geller claimed 40,000+ attended. Anti-war rallies/protests are the ones that ran into the tens of thousands to the hundreds of thousands, not Spencer-Geller’s band of loons.

    • Mr. Spencer, you are still a megalomaniac, i.e. a person characterized by delusions of grandeur, power, wealth, etc.

      Get a real job.

    • Spencer, did you by any chance notice the 20,000 people that had gathered over here in London to protest against the Head Pedophile/ Pope. I say so because you are a Catholic and, by your logic, that makes you a Pedophile too.

If this was an Islamic controversy, you would no doubt be going loco over this but because it’s your beloved Papa you are noticeably silent.

      • Yes. I agree. Spencer wants to judge Islam based on the actions of its lunatic fringe, but he’ll cry foul if you use his own tactics against him.

By the way, I don’t think Spencer is really Catholic. I think it’s just part of his act. Why else does his voluminous hate-writings contradict official Catholic position statements on Islam? Such as just about everything Pope John Paul II said about Islam.

    • “I almost feel a bit embarrassed for you.”

As Awesome had noted, the report said “after the CEREMONY” (meaning, the official ceremonies in memory of the 9/11 victims), not “after the anti-mosque rally”. No need act smug, its obvious that English isn’t your first language. I pity you.

  6. According to the AP article
[At the anti-mosque rally nearby, some participants wore clothing featuring stars and stripes, and some carried signs with messages including "It stops here" and "Never forgive, never forget, no WTC mosque."]

“Never forgive”? Do 1.5 billion people need to “not forgiven” because 19 Muslims were invlolved in a terrorist attack?

    • In the strange convoluted thinking of Islamophobia, the world’s 1.5 billion living Muslims are a singular, collective block that act in perfect concert, such that anything any single Muslim may do anywhere in the world, for any reason, necessarily guilts all Muslims everywhere for all times. They’re still giving us a hard time because of Caliph Al-Mutawakkil (d. 861).

    • These Islamophobes have this thing called “guilt by association”. It doesn’t matter if you didn’t do it, but if your uncle’s brother’s nephew’s niece’s mother’s brother’s son’s daughter’s father did it, it must mean that you are complicit as well!

  7. Loonwatch has been hacked…again..this time its hosting malware by some weird company. Looks like the hacking wasn’t a “coincidence” after all.

Its actually downloading in the background, so I recommend people don’t visit it until its fixed. The site now covertly redirects you to myblindstudioinfoonline.com (which actually contains a lot of malware).

Do scan your computers if you visited it today.

  8. The ironic thing is I remember seeing on CNN a new York mosque canceling it’s protest in support of the ground zero mosque because 911 victim families asked them to not hold it out of sensitivity.. What about the sensitivety from the anti mosque protectors? Epic fail on their part (though there were probably other pro mosque and Muslim protectors to).
