EDL Leader Stephen Lennon Charged with Mortgage Fraud

EDL leader Stephen Lennon (aka Tommy Robinson) has been charged with multiple counts of mortgage fraud. So on top of being an anti-Muslim bigot and all around Islamophobe he’s also a suspected criminal who loves committing fraud through the tactic of false representation.

These charges are separate from the investigation relating to Yaxley-Lennon’s prosecution and (current incarceration) for illegally entering the US to attend Pamela Geller & Robert Spencer’s conference in New York in September 2012. (h/t: Jai)

EDL leader Stephen Lennon charged with mortgage fraud

(BBCNews)

Stephen Lennon, 30, is accused of three counts of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation in relation to a mortgage application.

Mr Lennon is due before St Albans Magistrates Court on 7 December.

He will appear with five others, from Luton, Silsoe in Bedfordshire and Watford, who were arrested as part of the same investigation.

They face charges including fraud, money-laundering and possession of drugs with intent to supply.

One wonders about the silence of the Yaxley-Lennon’s US partners Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller. No doubt they will continue their defense of the EDL leader and claim he is being persecuted due to politically correct multiculti influenced Sharia.

One Factor in the Defeat of Allen West: High Muslim Turnout

A belated post but a necessary one.: (h/t: hsmoghul)

LEADING ISLAMOPHOBE ALLEN WEST LIKELY DEFEATED DUE TO HIGH MUSLIM AMERICAN TURNOUT

(Progressive Change)

Yesterday, right-wing House Republican Allen West finally conceded in his race against Democrat Patrick Murphy. West had made himself notorious for his anti-Muslim attitude. He argued that Islam is “not a faith” but a “totalitarian theocratic political ideology,” and that terrorism is inherent to Islam. He even said that Muslim congressman Keith Ellison (D) of “represent(ing) the antithesis of the principles upon which this country was established.”

But in an America that grows increasingly progressive and tolerant, bigotry can be a major electoral liability. Murphy’s margin of victory is roughly 1,900 votes. I talked to Imran Siddiqui, who works for the organization Empowering Motivating Educating Resourceful Grassroots Entities, which registers Muslim voters in the area. He mentioned that his organization had 2,500 Muslim voters in their database in the district and that they witnessed 80 percent turnout. That means roughly 2,000 Muslim-American votes — a little bit higher than Murphy’s margin of victory.

West’s loss should be a lesson to all those in Congress who would try to use bigotry to their political advantage. Sometimes the targets of your ire get out and vote, and when they do, you lose.

As’ad Abukhalil: “The Economist and Ex-Muslims”

Prof. As’ad Abukhalil takes on the latest reliance by The Economist on “lazy cliches” regarding Islam and Muslims in relation to apostasy and Atheism.

Abukhalil takes issue with its essentialization based on anecdotal stories, inaccurate relaying of the facts as well as relying on the testimony of Islamophobic bigots such as Ibn Warraq who have a clear agenda.

On Ex-Muslims

by As’ad Abukhalil (Al-Akhbar English)

There are so many obsessively redundant stories about Muslims and Islam. They are too familiar: stories about the veil, Jihad, the status of women, minorities and apostasy. Western reporters love to search and find a Muslim in the West who tells a story of persecution by Muslims. These stories are sexiest when the person elaborates on his new freedoms in the West and how he/she was not able to breathe until their arrival in the West. They tell about their past suffocation and how they could only read and enjoy “Lolita” in Western countries.

But the stories of apostasy still resonate. Westerners don’t know that apostasy laws were common at the time when they were promulgated in Sharia. The Economist is sometimes reasonable, but other times indistinguishable in its resort to lazy clichés about Muslims. The new issue of the Economist has a long article about “Atheists and Islam.” In the article, all the familiar clichés are squeezed in to draw a most dramatic picture that is worthy of movies about medieval Europe. It operates under the classical premise: that one story about one Muslim suffices to tell the story about all Muslims. And in singling out a story or two about Muslims in the West, the writers don’t know that they often fall victim to deception.

In the last few decades, Western governments developed asylum laws which permit a person to obtain legal status if she/he can establish real concern for safety in his/her homeland. I have served as a consultant to many lawyers and law firms in the West and saw the most bizarre stories by people who are desperate to stay legally in the US. Some people talk about how their tribes (even when “the tribe” does not even apply in Damascus or Beirut) will kill them, because they once told a cousin that they are secular. Another claims that his tribe – again – kills its members if they exhibit effeminate tendencies. And many have stumbled on the legal premise of fear of apostasy. They tell a judge (with no background or knowledge of the Middle East) that governments there typically behead apostates.

The Economist’s article belongs to this genre. It talks about how only in Turkey and Lebanon atheists can live safely, but only quietly. Where do they get this information from? This doesn’t seem to be from someone who know people in the region. I, for one, became an atheist in my teens. My friends and comrades in Lebanon (Lebanese and Palestinians) were also vocal atheists, and none of us faced persecution or even harassment for our views. There is no evidence for any such persecution. Many of my “Facebook friends” are young Arabs who identify their religion as “atheists.” And no one is persecuting them. The Saudi government is a rare exception in this case. But Saudi Arabia is often the exception, although it gets good press here in the US. TheEconomist says that eight states in the region have apostasy punishment on the books, but does not say that no one can find one case of implementation of the law in this case, even if you go back decades in time. There is a clear concoction of a dramatic alarmist sensationalism that does not conform to the facts.

The Economist in fact admits that “such punishments are rarely meted out” but does not admit that they are NEVER meted out. The Economistin this article befitting Fox News or the National Inquirer, even talks about “vigilantes inflicting beatings or beheadings,” but gives no examples or specifics. And the article assumes that the rise of the Islamists is adding to the dangers ostensibly faced by atheists, but fail to notice that atheists and secularists have in fact become more assertive and more self-confident. And in referring to the past, the article refers to medieval Arab and Persian poets and writers who were atheists, but then adds that “several were famously executed.” But such judgment has now been discredited by historians. We don’t believe, for example, that Ibn al-Muqaffa` or Bashar Bin Burd were executed for their atheism, but for their political inclinations or for their involvement in palace politics.

The shoddy quality of the article is further revealed when it concludes with an interview with “Ibn Warraq,” who is a right-wing Zionist propagandist who lives in the West under a false name because Muslims around the world – according to his tale – are chasing him because he is an ex-Muslim. But I have been an ex-Muslim since my mid-teens and I have not been chased by Muslims: not in the Middle East and not in the US, and I never hid behind a pseudonym.

The question is this: Why are some Western reporters so easily fooled, especially in cases when the lie and tale befits the paradigm of hostility to Islam and Muslims?

Islamophobes Use Thanksgiving to Beg for Money

This year round it seems Islamophobes have dropped the whole Stealth Jihad on Thanksgiving conspiracy theory they so fervently pushed last year.

Instead, this Thanksgiving 2012, the self-described “fearless, defenders of civilization and freedom” have their hats out, asking for “donations” from the sheeple and gullible.

Robert Spencer begs on behalf of AFDI,

In other words, give thanks today for champions of the freedom of speech, for women who have achieved great things, for those who have moved our souls with music or representational art — anything outlawed under Islamic law. For it may be that there will not be many more who join those singular individuals, as Sharia continues to advance in the West. The time to celebrate them is now.

And remember the fight is by no means over. As you give thanks for the blessings you have received, resolve to give thanks for them. Now is the time for new approaches that bypass the mainstream media straitjacket and force the public debate onto issues they want to ignore. That is what we do at the American Freedom Defense Initiative. Help AFDI keep fighting. Every dollar you contribute to us goes to the fight. We don’t draw salaries. We don’t have expensive offices or a huge staff (in fact, we don’t have an office or a staff at all).

Really Spencer?

Robert made 133k alone from the David Horowitz Freedom Foundation in 2009 for “directing JihadWatch,” and he has the gall to ask for more and claim no “huge salaries,” or “offices.”

Brunon K: Another Anders Breivik Admirer Planned Huge Terrorist Attack in Poland

Of course the Islamophobes’ strategy is to close their eyes, shut their ears and pretend that their ideology didn’t contribute to anti-Muslim radicalization. Nativist currents that Islamophobes both in the USA and Europe have been keen to disguise are coming to the fore much more blatantly as Islamophobia, xenophobia and anti-Semitism become visible and intertwined hallmarks of an increasingly stronger trend in the “new racism” of the 21st Century. Kevin Forts: One of Anders Breivik’s US Admirers

Polish bomb plotter said ‘Breivik made mistake’

by Matthew Day  (Telegraph)

A source from the investigation into the activities of Brunon K told the news channel TVN 24 that the suspect had examined Norwegian killer Anders Breivik’s car-bomb attack on government buildings in Oslo, which claimed eight lives, and had concluded that the Norwegian mass murderer had made a number of errors.

“He said that Breivik had made mistakes, and that he wouldn’t have made them because his [attack] would have been better,” said the source. The far-right fanatic killed 77 people in a bomb and gun attack in July last year.

A university chemistry lecturer and self-confessed admirer of Breivik, Brunon K. was arrested in the Polish city of Krakow earlier this month although news of the arrest was only made public on Monday. Police also seized four tons of explosives, detonators and a pistol.

It is thought he, or maybe a fellow conspirator, planned to use a tanker packed with explosives to ram through barriers protecting the parliamentary complex in Warsaw, and then drive it into a courtyard adjacent to the lower house of parliament. The massive bomb would then have been detonated.

The need to trigger the bomb as soon the vehicle got close to the parliament has led investigators to believe that the suspect planned a suicide attack.

Brunon K, had apparently become convinced that foreigners ran Poland and therefore the government and the president needed to die.

The Polish press reported that students at Krakow’s Agricultural University, where Brunon K worked, had become alarmed by their lecturer’s comments about the need to remove the government.

Breivik bought some of the chemicals used for his bomb attack on Oslo in Poland, and the prime minister said that the investigation into his Polish contacts had led the authorities to Bruno K.

“Simply put he [Bruno K] believed society and the economic situation were moving in the wrong direction due to all government posts and positions of power being held by what he described as ‘foreigners’—not true Poles,” said prosecutor Mariusz Krason. “He said he belonged to a nationalistic, xenophobic and anti-Semitic movement.

“He was planning to detonate four tons of explosives,” he added.

The Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza said Bruno K had attracted police attention by praising Breivik on internet forums, and their interest increased when it became apparent that the man was a trained chemist who had access to bomb making materials through his job at Krakow’s Agricultural University.

When contacted by undercover agents posing as potential co-conspirators, Bruno K urged them to take training courses on how to handle industrial explosives. Police said he had already blown up 250 kilograms of explosives in a series of tests around Poland.

Investigators also revealed the suspect had travelled to Warsaw to carry out reconnaissance missions on the Polish parliament. It is thought he hoped to assassinate government leaders and the Polish president by detonating his massive car bomb during a key parliamentary debate on the budget next year.

It also emerged that Bruno K’s wife, a biologist, had gone to the police when her husband started to enquire about how to kill many people with a biological dirty bomb.

University colleagues of the suspect expressed their “shock” over the arrest, with one describing Bruno K. as an “average worker”. But a former neighbour said he had always played with explosives, and had lost some fingers to an explosion when he was young.

Two other men were also arrested for illegal possession of weapons, while a further two were detained for questioning.

Terrorist Anders Breivik Gushes to German ‘Nazi Killer’

They still try to tell us that White Supremacy has nothing to do with it. (h/t: CriticalDragon):

Murderer Breivik gushes to German ‘Nazi killer’

RACIST mass murderer Anders Breivik has fallen for an alleged female Nazi killer and sent her a letter praising her role in a string of assassinations.

Breivik wrote to accused far-right extremist Beate Zschaepe in Germany to congratulate her terror cell which killed nine immigrant businessmen and a policewoman in a decade-long reign of terror.

Breivik, who slaughtered nearly 80 young people in Norway last year, said she should use her upcoming trial on murder and other charges “to spread right-wing propaganda!”

He also called her a “courageous heroine of national resistance” and addressed the letter to “Dear Sister Beate”.

“Reveal your political motives to the population,” said Breivik.

Details of the correspondence are revealed in this week’s edition of Der Spiegel magazine which went on sale on today in Germany.

Zschaepe was an alleged member of the National Socialist Underground, a death squad which idolised Hitler and wanted to up a “Fourth Reich” in Germany.

The cell was hunted for many years after being suspected of the string of racially-motivated attacks.

However the reign of terror came to an end after Zschaepe’s two male co-conspirators apparently killed themselves after a botched bank job.

Zschaepe then turned herself in and was arrested and charged in connection with her role in the 10 murders.

Since the NSU’s disintegration police have gathered evidence which suggests that Zschaepe was present at most murders and probably carried out several of them.

Breivik wrote a three-sided letter to Zschaepe – gushing with admiration for the NSU’s motive.

And the Norweigian is said to be “spellbound” by the woman dubbed “The Nazi Mare” in Germany.

“You did everything to stop the multiculturalism and the Islamisation of Germany,” he wrote.

But he said that the cell, which was based in the eastern German city of Zwickau, was wrong to target immigrant businessmen.

“You should have gone for political elites instead,” he advised. “But both forms of attack would damage the multicultural experiment.”

Breivik, 32, waxed lyrical about the “mission” he sees himself and Zschaepe involved in, adding: “We are both among the first drops of rain that foretell the huge, cleansing storm about to break across Europe.

“We are martyrs of the conservative revolution and should be extremely proud of our sacrifice and our troubles.”

But his words never reached his jailbird sweetheart; the letter was seized by authorities in Germany and confiscated.

Breivik is serving a minimum 21-year sentence for killing 77 people in the bombings and shootings in Oslo and Utoya that shocked the Scandinavian country.

If Zschaepe is found guilty she faces life behind bars.

Predictably Islamophobes Applaud Israeli Assault on Beleaguered Gaza

Operation Cast Lead Redux

A familiar script is being played out in front of the world’s eyes. After US Presidential elections and before national elections Israel is launching air strikes and threatening a ground invasion on the beleaguered Gaza strip, one of the most densely populated regions in the world, 1 million of whom are refugees from the 1948 creation of the state of Israel. The Israeli government says its attacks are only in “self-defense,” to put an end to militant rocket attacks when in fact the assault only re-energizes the cycle of violence and increases extremism and barely dents the capability of militant groups. Such operations are only meant to perpetuate the status quo, helping neither innocent Israelis or Gazans. As UC Irvine professor Mark LeVine notes,

It is deja vu all over again of the worst kind. Israel’s latest assault on Gaza will kill dozens and perhaps hundreds of civilians in a hail of hellfire from the ground, sky and even sea. Hamas will fire hundreds of rockets, likely killing a few Israeli civilians and terrorising tens of thousands of residents of the south of the country, but otherwise achieving little beyond helping to justify even more Israeli carnage in Gaza and who knows how many new housing units in the West Bank.

Outside of the benighted territory of Palestine/Israel sides will be chosen – at least for the cameras. The US will give “full-throttled support” for its ally. Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood president will feign outrage, bring home his ambassador, and otherwise stay safely out of the way. The Arab League and the UN Security Council will meet and make strongly-vaguely worded pronouncements. Or not. It really doesn’t matter.

Meanwhile, death, destruction and hopelessness will continue until yet another truce is declared. Each side – or rather, the worst elements of each side, will declare “victory” and arrogate even more political and economic power to themselves. And then the whole process will begin again.

Gazans, stuck between two occupying regimes: a suffocating Israeli apartheid program of siege and occupation and an authoritarian and stupid Hamas regime are again bearing the brunt of Israeli military violence. See: Pictures of Israel’s Offensive in Gaza.

In the USA, the mainstream media is swallowing, hook, line and sinker the Israeli narrative that it is just “defending” itself when in fact the story is more nuanced. The recent operation dubbed “Operation Pillar of Defense” broke an informal ceasefire,

Israel is threatening to launch a ground invasion of the Gaza Strip after breaking an informal ceasefire with a series of ongoing deadly attacks. On Wednesday, an Israeli air strike assassinated Ahmed Jabari, the head of Hamas’ military wing. The bombing continued throughout the day and night, killing at least 13 civilians, including a baby and a mother pregnant with twins. More than 100 Palestinians were also wounded, and the toll is expected to rise. At least three Israelis were killed today when Palestinian rockets hit a residential building in the town of Kiryat Malachi, the first Israeli fatalities since the latest fighting began. Israel says it has launched the strikes to prevent Palestinian rocket fire, but the latest round of violence began last week when Israeli troops killed a young boy in Gaza. The situation has escalated since Saturday, when Palestinian militants fired at an Israeli military vehicle near the Israel-Gaza border. After Palestinian militant groups agreed to an informal truce on Monday, Israel broke two days of quiet on Wednesday.

Islamophobes Love Dead Palestinians

Of course nothing seems to give more joy to Islamophobes than dead Palestinians. It’s a running theme that was there before the recent conflagration of violence and will be there afterwards and so it is no surprise that they are cheerleading Israel’s assault.

Queen bee of the unhinged, Pamela “Muslims are savages” Geller, advocate of destroying the Golden Dome in Jerusalem writes about supporting the “civilized man” vs. the “savage”,

Finally. Godspeed to the beleaguered Jewish state. A decade of rockets into Southern Israel and now daily rocket attacks into homes and schools, in concert with an American president who supports jihad.

In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel, defeat jihad.

Robert Spencer, frolicking in fantasy land is on the record denying that Israel ever ‘harms civilians,’ terming it “propaganda,” he also puts “Palestinian” in scary quote marks (implying they aren’t real),

They [international media] aid and abet the “Palestinian” propaganda about Israelis harming civilians.

There will surely be more kooky pro-Israel-attack-on-Gaza spin to come from the Islamophobic looniverse. We’ll keep you posted.

In the meantime keep the innocents in your thoughts and prayers. The two state solution is dead and all we are witnessing is a waste of lives, time and energy.

Why Obama won’t take on Israel

Update I: Obama’s kill list policy compels US support for Israeli attacks on Gaza by Glenn Greenwald

“Most USA media outlets are petrified of straying too far from pro-Israel orthodoxies. Time’s Middle East correspondent Rania Abouzeid noted this morning on Twitter the typical template: “Just read report in major US paper about Gaza/Israel that put Israeli dead in 1st sentence. Palestinian in 6th paragraph.” Or just consider the BBC’s headline. Worse, this morning’s New York Times editorial self-consciously drapes itself with pro-Israel caveats and completely ignores the extensive civilian deaths in Gaza before identifying this as one of the only flaws it could find with the lethal Israeli assault: “The action also threatens to divert attention from what Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly described as Israel’s biggest security threat: Iran’s nuclear program.”
In what I know will be a fruitless attempt to avoid having this discussion subsumed by that tired script: I will recommend several outstanding, truly must-read pieces written by others over the last 24 hours in lieu of my own reciting of the various arguments. Begin with this article by Yousef Munayyer in the Daily Beast setting the crucial context for the rocket attacks from Gaza; then read this Daily Beast news-breaking account from Gershon Baskin, who details how the provocations from the Israelis were geared toward disrupting an imminent peace deal with Hamas (“The assassination of Jaabari was a pre-emptive strike against the possibility of a long term ceasefire”); also vital is this time-line of events leading up to the rocket attacks from Gaza, with ample documentation from Ali Abunimah; and finally, there is this very succinct but poignant summary of what Israel has done over the last three weeks.”

Update II: Israel ‘s military offensive “Pillar of Defense” in Hebrew is (עמוד ענן‎, Amúd Anán), named after a Biblical Hebrew war story about God terrorizing Egyptians, (h/t: Jack)

“By the way: the IDF ‘translates’ the name of the military operation (עמוד ענן‎, Amúd Anán) as ‘Pillar of Defense’ for English speaking audiences, but if you look up עמוד ענן‎ in the Hebrew Bible, it really is the cloud of God smiting the enemies of Israel before it.

What if they were Muslim?”

David Yerushalmi: Pamela Geller’s anti-democracy lawyer & “SION” senior member exposed: The facts

Original article by Jai Singh

I have recently come across some major information regarding a pivotal member of Robert Spencer & Pamela Geller’s inner circle, specifically David Yerushalmi. The main cross-published article below is from the Center for American Progress think-tank, although I’ve also included URL links for extensive further information about Yerushalmi at the end of this article. It certainly explains a lot. It is also very revealing indeed about the core anti-Muslim propagandists’ endgame.

Along with being Pamela Geller’s laywer, David Yerushalmi is a senior member of Spencer & Geller’s Stop Islamization of Nations/”SION” organisation. Yerushalmi was even one of the main speakers at Spencer & Geller’s anti-Muslim conference in New York in September 2012 (Geller enthusiastically provided video footage on her Atlas Shrugs website here).

David Yerushalmi is also General Counsel for Frank Gaffney’s Center for Security Policy organisation, which has had a considerable influence on certain senior Republican politicians, particularly their wild claims about “extremist Muslim infiltration” in the Obama Administration. According to the New York Times, Gaffney is “Yerushalmi’s primary link to a network of former and current government officials, security analysts and grass-roots political organizations” and is also able to tap “a network of Tea Party and Christian groups as well as ACT! for America, which has 170,000 members”.

There is, however, much more. As the main article below (and the subsequent URL links) discusses, David Yerushalmi has tried to conceal a huge amount of self-incriminating information from the public. Not only are his racial and religious views self-evident, but it also raises several further questions:

1. Exactly why is Pamela Geller allying herself so closely with someone who believes that American women should not have the right to vote ?

2. Yerushalmi heads an organisation (Society of Americans for National Existence/”SANE”) whose charter explicitly states that it is “dedicated to the rejection of democracy” in the United States. It is worth noting that such actions are defined as sedition, a major offence under multiple Federal laws: See here, here, here, and here. Why is Yerushalmi not being prosecuted for sedition ?

3. Exactly who are the members of Yerushalmi’s anti-democracy “Society of Americans for National Existence” organisation, and to what extent have they penetrated the United States’ educational, legal, and political systems, government, intelligence, the media, and US military ?

4. Considering the fact that Yerushalmi heads an organisation explicitly dedicated to the rejection of democracy in the United States, why have the relevant authorities not stripped Yerushalmi of his license to practice law ?

5. To what extent are Robert Spencer, Pamela Geller and David Horowitz involved in furthering Yerushalmi’s anti-democracy agenda ?

6. Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller are also closely allied to John Bolton, the former US ambassador to the UN; Bolton was Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s senior foreign policy advisor during his campaign. As publicised by Geller, Bolton was even originally scheduled to be one of the main speakers alongside Yerushalmi at the SION conference in New York in September 2012. Bolton has also appeared on Frank Gaffney’s radio show in order to defend the aforementioned claims that extremist Muslims have “infiltrated” the US Government. To what extent is John Bolton involved in furthering Yerushalmi’s anti-democracy agenda ?

7. Following on from #6, is John Bolton himself a member of Yerushalmi’s “Society of Americans for National Existence” organisation ?

8. Following on from #6 and #7, to what extent is Mitt Romney aware of all this ?

9. The other main guests & speakers alongside Yerushalmi at the SION conference in New York in September 2012 included New York State Senator David Storobin, English Defence League leader Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (aka “Tommy Robinson”, also see here, here, here, and here), English Defence League co-founder/British Freedom Party deputy leader Kevin Carroll, and British Freedom Party leader Paul Weston. To what extent are they aware of Yerushalmi’s anti-democracy agenda ?

10. To what extent are Frank Gaffney (also see here) and his Center for Security Policy organisation involved in furthering Yerushalmi’s anti-democracy agenda ? (Note: The CSP link includes extensive details of the organisation’s main financiers, board members, military committee members, and academic council members. The information about the level of involvement of extremely senior [and well-connected] former military officers and major weapons manufacturers is particularly startling).

11. To what extent are Newt Gingrich (also see here and here), Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), Rep. Peter King (R-NY) (also see here), Rep. Allen West (R-FL), Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ), Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-MI), Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Rep. Thomas Rooney (R-FL), Rep. Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA), and other anti-Muslim members of Congress aware of Yerushalmi’s anti-democracy agenda ?

12. Peter King, previously known for his active support of the terrorist IRA, is currently Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, and is also a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He has appeared on Frank Gaffney’s radio show, where he made a series of demonstrably false statements about American Muslims. More recently, Peter King has received an award from Gaffney’s Center for Security Policy organisation. Why is the Chairman of Homeland Security accepting an award from an organisation whose General Counsel is dedicated to the rejection of democracy in the United States ?

13. To what extent are Congress, the Department of Homeland Security, and American intelligence agencies aware of the fact that several of the senior politicians listed in #11 have demanded action based on dubious material from an organisation whose General Counsel is dedicated to the rejection of democracy in the United States ?

14. To what extent are Congress, the Department of Homeland Security, and American intelligence agencies aware of the fact that a disproportionate number of the senior politicians listed in #11 have direct links to the same fundamentalist Christian organisation dedicated to influencing American politicians ? Further to the recent US presidential election, updated details of some of these politicians and their activities are available here, here, and here.

15. To what extent are Congress, the Department of Homeland Security, and American intelligence agencies aware of the fact that several recent Republican presidential candidates, including one of the senior politicians listed in #11 (who is also a member of the House Intelligence Committee), have extensive links to “Dominionism” ? (Note: Dominionism is an extreme interpretation of Christian fundamentalism deriving from “Christian Reconstructionism”, which involves the belief that rule by non-Christians anywhere in the world is sacrilege, explicitly approves of the historical slavery of African-Americans, and openly advocates the replacement of American law with Old Testament injunctions including the death penalty for apostasy and homosexuality; Dominionism also claims that its adherents have a God-given mandate to infiltrate the highest echelons of power and subsequently impose their beliefs on the entire world).

16. Yerushalmi has also proposed a range of measures targeting Muslims in the United States (see ThinkProgress article below). If Yerushalmi and his main allies were given free rein to implement these measures, exactly what criteria would they use in order to identify someone as a “suspected Muslim” or a “known Muslim” ?

17. Following on from #16, exactly what measures would Yerushalmi propose in order to conclusively prove that someone is (or is not) a Muslim ?

18. Exactly what actions would Yerushalmi describe as “knowingly acting in furtherance of, or supporting the, adherence to Islam” ?

19. Considering the fact that Yerushalmi, Geller and Spencer publicly claim to be such staunch supporters of the concept of “freedom of speech” and refer to this concept when justifying their own actions, why do they keep threatening to sue people who exercise their own freedom of speech against them ?

Neocon ‘Team B’ Author Yerushalmi: ‘Islam Was Born In Violence; It Will Die That Way’

I wrote last week that the new “Team B” report from neoconservative activist Frank Gaffney’s Center for Security Policy on the threat of Islamic sharia law is notable for, among other things, the fact that its authors consulted with no actual Muslims or Islamic scholars in writing it.

A key “expert” behind the report’s interpretation of Islamic law is a man named David Yerushalmi. In addition to running a DC law practice, Yerushalmi serves as General Counsel of the Center for Security Policy. Yerushalmi is also a contributor to Andrew Breitbart’s Big Peace. On his law office website, Yerushalmi claims to be “considered an expert on Islamic law.”

The release of the sharia report was hailed last week by three leading Congressional conservatives — Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ), Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-MI), and Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) — so it’s worth looking into what one the report’s key contributors actually believes about Muslims and Islam.

Here’s what Yerushalmi wrote in the American Thinker in 2006:

”Islam was born in violence; it will die that way. Any wish to the contrary is sheer Pollyannaism. The same way the post World War II German youth were taught by their German teachers and political leaders to despise the fascism of their fathers, with strict laws extant still today restricting even speech that casts doubt on the Holocaust, so too must the Muslim youth be taught from the cradle to reject the religion of their forebears.”

Yerushalmi also wrote in 2006 that the Muslim Brotherhood “has succeeded in penetrating our educational, legal, and political systems, as well as top levels of government, intelligence, the media, and U.S. military, virtually paralyzing our ability to respond effectively.” He criticized President Bush for his “fatal, but well-intentioned ideological whim to build democracies among a ruthless people who believe in a murderous creed falsely labeled a ‘religion of peace.‘”

Yerushalmi heads an organization called Society of Americans for National Existence (SANE), whose charter — now hidden behind a paywall but shared here by Talk to Action’s Brian Wilson — states:

“America is a unique people bound together through a commitment to America’s Judeo-Christian moral foundation and to an enduring faith and trust in G-d and in His Providence… America was the handiwork of faithful Christians, mostly men, and almost entirely white, who ventured from Europe to create a nation in their image of a country existing as free men under G-d. The founding fathers understood that party-led parliaments and democracy were the worse form of government and sought to resist the movement that was soon to find fertile ground in France with the French Revolution…

…at its core, SANE is dedicated to the rejection of democracy and party rule and a return to a constitutional republic…

…Any world view, ideology, or -ism that promotes directly or indirectly the elimination of national existence and the establishment of a world state is our foe. So you can know at the start that liberalism (and this includes libertarianism) and Islam are in our sights.”

Yerushalmi’s group suggests the following measures for dealing with America’s Muslim problem:

“- It shall be a felony punishable by 20 years in prison to knowingly act in furtherance of, or to support the, adherence to Islam.
– The Congress of the United States of America shall declare the US at war with the Muslim Nation or Umma.

– The President of the United States of America shall immediately declare that all non-US citizen Muslims are Alien Enemies under Chapter 3 of Title 50 of the US Code and shall be subject to immediate deportation.
– No Muslim shall be granted an entry visa into the United States of America.”

Unsurprisingly, Yerushalmi’s antipathies extend beyond Muslims. In a 2006 article, “On Race: A Tentative Discussion” [Note: Despite Yerushalmi’s efforts to destroy the online evidence, his full article in PDF form can still be accessed directly here] — tentative because, as Yerushalmi laments in the article, one cannot engage in “a discussion of Islam as an evil religion, or of blacks as the most murderous of peoples (at least in New York City), or of illegal immigrants as deserving of no rights” without being labeled a racist — Yerushalmi writes that the American founders were on to something when they limited the vote to white men:

“There is a reason the founding fathers did not give women or black slaves the right to vote. You might not agree or like the idea but this country’s founders, otherwise held in the highest esteem for their understanding of human nature and its affect on political society, certainly took it seriously. Why is that? Were they so flawed in their political reckonings that they manhandled the most important aspect of a free society – the vote? If the vote counts for so much in a free and liberal democracy as we ‘know’ it today, why did they limit the vote so dramatically.”

So Yerushalmi isn’t crazy about Muslims, African-Americans, immigrants, or women. But wait, he also strongly dislikes liberal Jews:

“Jews of the modern age are the most radical, aggressive and effective of the liberal Elite. Their goal is the goal of all “progressives:” a determined use of liberal principles to deconstruct the Western nation state in a “historical” march to the World State……one must admit readily that the radical liberal Jew is a fact of the West and a destructive one.”

I contacted Mr. Yerushalmi to give him an opportunity to explain these writings. He declined.

Rep. Allen West still refuses to concede, calls recount a ‘sham’

According to Florida election law, if the gap is larger than 0.5 percent, which it was, then no official recount is needed. But yet a recount was still given out to the former, one-term Representative Allen West. In predictable fashion West has called the recount a “sham.”

Rep. Allen West still refuses to concede, calls recount a ‘sham’

Palm Beach Gardens – After a partial recount of early voting ballots on Sunday, Republican Rep. Allen West still refuses to relinquish his Florida congressional seat to Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy, calling the recount a sham.
West gained votes, but Murphy still held a 50.3 percent share of the ballots and an overall lead of 1,907 votes, said the Washington Post. The gap is larger than the 0.5 percent or less needed for an official recount under Florida election law.

Originally it was thought St. Lucie County election workers would recount all early voting ballots.

Only the last three days of early voting were recounted. Assistant County Attorney Heather Young told WPTV News Channel 5 the recount would only include the last three days of early voting because those were the only days the county encountered problems reading memory cards.

West’s team called the recount a “sham,” arguing that all eight days of early ballots should be recounted and threatening further legal action.

“We’ll pursue every legal action available to us to ensure that every vote is counted fairly and accurately in this election and once we’re satisfied that’s been the case, obviously we’ll be ready to move forward. But at this point and time, there’s a number of questions that need to be answered,” said Tim Edson, the campaign manager for Allen West.

An attorney for Murphy was also present during the recount and said the West campaign is wasting time in pursuing legal action.

“Their ball seems to be continuing to change and it is clear, it is a resounding victory for Patrick Murphy and it is time for us to move forward and do the people’s business and it’s time for Mr. West to take the honorable course, recognized the inevitable,” said Sean Dominick, an attorney for Murphy.

West has been keeping a low public profile since Tuesday’s election. On Sunday, the Palm Beach Gardens Republican posted a statement on Facebook:

Today is Veteran’s Day and I am spending the day at several events with those few who have always answered our Nation’s call. They are the guardians of our liberties and freedoms.

However, on this day I am deeply troubled by the voting procedure issues emanating from St Lucie County. It is unconscionable to me to witness what is transpiring before our eyes.

This is not about who gets a congressional seat, because it belongs to the people. This is about preserving the integrity of the voting process and the fundamental right to free and honest elections, because it is for that which I, and all veterans, have risked our lives.

Killer Anders Breivik claims conditions in Norwegian prison ‘violate his human rights’

  • Prison conditions are ‘inhumane’ says Breivik’s lawyer
  • Utoya survivor slams the claim, saying ’he is not in prison for shoplifting socks’

By SARA MALM

Mass murderer Anders Breivik has written a letter to the Norwegian prison authorities complaining about the conditions in jail.

The 33-year-old, convicted of killing 77 people, claims the tight security at an Oslo prison violates his human rights and the UN Torture Convention.

Breivik also claims that restricted access to a computer and censoring his correspondence ‘violates his freedom of speech,’ his lawyer said today.

After his prison sentence was handed down on August 24, Breivik has in practice been denied access to the computer which was provided for him before the court ruling, lawyer Tord Jordet told AFP.

Furthermore, all letters he sends and receives are censored as soon as politics is mentioned, he added.

‘His freedom of speech is being violated,’ Jordet said. ‘Being deprived of this freedom of expression breaches the constitution and human rights.’Breivik’s activities in prison were restricted after Norwegian paper Verdens Gang exposed his correspondence with high-ranking right-wing extremists this summer. The letters asked for help to ‘continue the fight’ and establish a new extremist network he called the Conservative Revolutionary Movement.

Despite this, Tord Jordet called the isolation and ‘deprivation’ of recreational and social activities inhumane.

The Norwegian Ministry of Justice has declined to comment on the matter, but survivors and families of victims have expressed their anger at Breivik’s comments.

‘He is welcome to cry his crocodile tears, But Anders Behring Breivik will never be anything but the coldblooded child-murderer and assassin who took nearly 80 human lives,’ Utøya survivor Eivind Rindal, 24, told Verdens Gang.

Eivind says the security and restrictions reflect the crimes Breivik has committed.

‘He is being treated like a prisoner who has done what he has done.’

‘Breivik must understand that he’s not in prison for shoplifting a pair of socks. He should be grateful that he has been convicted in Norway.

‘There are a lot of other countries who would have treated someone who has committed the crimes he has completely different.’

Breivik is serving the Norwegian maximum sentence of 21 years and is expected to spend most of that time at high security facility Ila prison near the capital Oslo.

He slaughtered 77 adults and teenagers when he bombed government buildings in Oslo and carried out a mass shooting on the island of Utoya in July last year.
