About David Horowitz (Spencer’s Boss)

David Horowitz was born on January 10, 1939 in Forest, Hills, N.Y. and is an ex-Marxist convert to Neo-Conservatism, a history which is interesting in and of itself but a distraction from the main theme of this page, though for those interested please read, David Horowitz’s Long March by Scott Sherman of the Nation Magazine.

Horowitz is the growing anti-Muslim movement’s “premier promoter.” He not only funds JihadWatch, (paying Robert Spencer $132, 537 for blogging) but has also directed anti-Muslim campaigns such as “Islamofascism Awareness Week“, which brought leading Muslim-bashers to more than a hundred college campuses in October 2007.

He is a prolific builder of far right institutions and organizations. Sourcewatch lists his affiliations as, David Horowtiz Freedom Center (DHFC), Center for the Study of Popular Culture, FrontpageMag, Discover the Networks, Encounter Books, Individual Rights Foundation, Wednesday Morning Club, Matt Drudge Defense Fund, and Students for Academic Freedom.

Horowitz’s website, FrontPage Magazine, features the anti-Muslim movement’s leading writers and thinkers and links to other anti-Muslim sites, essentially casting Horowitz in the dubious role of “chief publicist of the Islamophobic movement.”

As pointed out by FAIR’s “Smearcasting” document, FrontPage Magazine “has been exposed for inaccuracy by, among other outlets, the New Yorker magazine–4/14/08.”

But David Horowitz is more than a promoter and publicist of Islamophobia, he is also a participant in the anti-Muslim movement. He has written and contributed to a whole host of publications and venues, including his own on the topic of Islam and Muslims.

In one Fox appearance (5/9/08), he linked Muslim student associations on college campuses across the U.S. to the “terrorist Jihad against the West”:

“The point here is that there are 150 Muslim students’ associations, which are coddled by university administrations and treated as though they were ethnic or religious groups, when they are political groups that are arms of the Muslim Brotherhood, which is the fountainhead of the terrorist jihad against the West.”

No doubt the students are part of the “between 150 million and 750 million Muslims” Horowitz claims “support a holy war against Christians, Jews and other Muslims” (Columbia Spectator, 10/15/07).

During a speech at the University of California at Santa Barbara, Horowitz accused students wearing green in support of the schools’ Muslim Student Association of supporting Hamas, and students wearing Arab Keffiyehs of honoring Yassir Arafat and terrorism (Santa Barbara Independent, 5/15/08).

Horowitz has been most vocal on the Israel-Paelstine conflict which leads to him stepping on many Islamophobic land mines. Horowitz is on the record stating that “Palestinians are Nazis,” and blames them for any violence or conflagration in the region. He links the secular PLO to “Islamic radicalism.”

David Horowitz is an important pillar in the cottage industry of Islamophobia, making sure that the wheels of hate are well-oiled and moving. By creating and erecting the new enemy, Islam and Muslims, he ensures that his institutions will be continously funded and that neo-Conservatism will remain a powerful force in the American political landscape.

You MUST remove the Chi-Rho symbol from the header! This is a symbol used by our catholic neighbors who are usualy on the side of muslims, standing against islamophobia. The use of this symbol next to these hate filled people featured on the site is VERY dissrespectful. To someone who doesnt know, it would imply that catholics suport this kind of hate filled nonsence. Please do not dissrespect our catholic neighbors!

Get us a letter from your Catholic neighbors that condemn the usage of this symbol by Robert Spencer and that condemn his anti-Muslim bigotry and we will remove it. We make no statements on this site to impugn Catholics or Catholicism. We do not use the cross either. This sign is not a dogmatic symbol like the cross but a historical one originating with the warrior emperor Constantin for whom it symbolized “conquering.” It was used by Robert Spencer on JihadWatch to symbolize the same meaning.

I was baptized and raised Catholic, went through Catholic grade school, high school, and three years of Catholic university. I am not a practicing Catholic, but I respect and admire many things about Catholics and Catholic history — many things, but not all things. The Catholic Church, under poor, weak, or corrupt leadership at various times and places has committed inhuman acts of historical significance. But that does not define its entire role in history, only in the minds of those convinced of its evil nature. The chi-ro symbol is inappropriate is association with Robt. Spencer and his beliefs, and to defend its association with him because he used it is to defend, and align oneself with, Spencer’s logic, thought processes, bigotry, and emotional state of mind.

Almighty Allah is aware of what these cretins do, and will they will simmer in their own soup.

I am sorry to write off-topic here but could you please e-mail me menj? I want to ask you about the building on Noorullah online!

Your ignorance is astounding. The Pax Cross is a sign of peace. It’s been used by many movements for good or ill, but to attribute it to one specific movement is incompetent. It’s a universal sign of peace.

  7. Defender Of Islam says:

okee then, why do they wast so much of there time being afraid, when theres nothing to be afraid of?

  8. John Cawrey says:

With regards to the recent Norway Oslo terrorist attacks, not only do Spencer, Geller, and others need to be held accountable for their indirect involvement. David Horowitz also needs to be held accountable for this as well, since he is the one who is the chief promoter of anti-Muslim anti-Islam bigotry in the first place.

  9. May God guide Mr. Spencer to the right path and allow him to become a good person.
