EDL’s Tommy Robinson, Robert Spencer, Quilliam and the BBC

Robert Spencer-Kevin Carroll-Pamela Geller-and-Stephen Lennon-in-Stockholm

By Jai Singh

Regular readers will be aware that the United Kingdom’s Home Secretary has banned the American anti-Muslim propagandists Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller from entering the UK (details here, hereherehere, and here). Spencer and Geller had intended to speak at the English Defence League’s demonstration in London on 29 June 2013.

Approximately a dozen senior EDL figures, including EDL leader Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (aka “Tommy Robinson”), resigned from the EDL in October 2013. Yaxley-Lennon is now working closely with Maajid Nawaz and Quilliam, although there are still major questions about the situation, and Spencer and Geller’s own public reactions have been erratic; further details hereherehere, andhere.

Quilliam’s own press release about the resignation claims that they “hope to continue supporting Tommy and Kevin in their journey to counter Islamism and neo-Nazi extremism”.

After last week’s high-profile BBC documentary ”When Tommy met Mo”, Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller have now publicly re-endorsed Stephen Yaxley-Lennon. Furthermore, they have also revealed Yaxley-Lennon’s real game plan regarding Quilliam (I’ve highlighted this in bold below).

Spencer and Geller have cross-published their jointly-authored article on their respective websites (see here and here).

Relevant extracts:

A few weeks ago we issued a statement expressing our disenchantment with Tommy Robinson’s new course. We…..were extremely suspicious of his association with the pseudo-moderate and extremely disingenuous Quilliam Foundation.

However, events have been unfolding rapidly. Tommy Robinson has written to us emphasizing that he has not changed his positions, and the unfolding events have borne that out. The documentary When Tommy Met Mo shows that Tommy was not fooled by the smooth deceptiveness of the dishonest Islamic supremacist Mo Ansar, and in numerous interviews Tommy has acquitted himself admirably,…..

His association with the Quilliam Foundation was and is problematic. The Quilliam Foundation’s anti-Israel stance and its unjustified attacks on counter-jihadists such as Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Geert Wilders abundantly establish that it is not what it claims to be. But we understand that Tommy has been under enormous pressure. It is impossible to hold him accountable for Quilliam’s disingenuousness when he has not repeated it himself. Tommy is planning to start a new organization that is as free from Quilliam as it is from the EDL, and in that, and in his ongoing efforts to defend the British freedom and the vision of human rights that Judeo-Christian civilization has given to the world, we wholeheartedly and unhesitatingly support him.

Former Muslim human rights activist and SION Board member Dr. Ali Sina exposes the lies behind Qulliam and Ansar’s charade.

Geller’s version of the article also includes the full statement from the currently-unidentified individual using the online alias “Ali Sina”. Relevant extracts targeting Quilliam and Maajid Nawaz in particular:

…..What about Maajid Nawaaz? He had no problem saying some of the teachings of the Quran are morally reprehensible. This is quite a statement for a Muslim. Is he sincere? Maajid is the chairman of Quilliam Foundation, a self-styled organization that claims to counter Islamic extremism.

He was a recruiter of Hizbul Tahrir, a terrorist organization, and an advocate for Islamic caliphate for 13 years. He says that he was reformed while serving a five years jail sentence in Egypt for his political activities. Now he claims that he rejects extremism and is a moderate Muslim.

…..[Maajid Nawaaz] is taking his deception to a higher level. The deception has paid off handsomely. Instead of serving time in jail Maajid now shakes hands of George W. Bush and Tony Blair, is a chairman of a respectable foundation, and has run for MP in UK. He is far more effective in destroy the western civilization from within, through taqiyah than by placing bombs in buildings and busses.

Could I be mistaken? Have I come to a hasty decision? I invite Maajid Nawaaz to show my error and prove to the world that he is not deceiving them. Maybe I too will join his Quilliam organization and support his efforts. If he is sincere, he will accept this invitation. But based on my experience with “moderate Muslims,” I have a feeling that Maajid’s reply will be a deafening silence.

There is no such thing as moderate Islam. This is the ultimate taqiyah. Falling into this trap is deadly. It may cost your liberty and your life. Moderate Islam is an oxymoron. It is as attainable as perfumed dung; although I may be wrong about the latter.

Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller’s statement raises the following questions:

1. What is Maajid Nawaz & Quilliam’s response ?

2. Do Maajid Nawaz & Quilliam still plan to continue working with Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, considering (a) Yaxley-Lennon’s continuing alliance with foreign extremists banned from entering the UK, (b) the fact that Yaxley-Lennon has repeatedly declared that he has not changed any of his anti-Muslim views, (c) the fact that Yaxley-Lennon has no intention of working with Quilliam for the long-term, (d) the fact that Yaxley-Lennon is simply using Quilliam as a “stepping-stone” to a new anti-Muslim organisation, devoid of the stigma of the EDL and allied to the aforementioned banned foreign extremists ?

3. The BBC are currently involving Stephen Yaxley-Lennon in at least two more documentaries: One focusing on Quilliam, and one focusing specifically on Yaxley-Lennon (titled “What Tommy Does Next”). Considering the facts detailed above, will the BBC now terminate their involvement with Yaxley-Lennon, or do they intend to continue these projects with him ? If it is the latter, will the BBC disclose the aforementioned facts to the British viewing public, especially Yaxley-Lennon’s continuing alliance with foreign extremists banned from the UK ?

It would be constructive to receive some clarification from Maajid Nawaz, Quilliam and the BBC. In the meantime, for their benefit and for the public record, it is worth reiterating the following relevant facts about Robert Spencer’s inner circle (including “Ali Sina”) and Stephen Yaxley-Lennon.

********************************************************************************************************

ROBERT SPENCER’S INNER CIRCLE

Robert Spencer:

1. Robert Spencer is the author of the virulently anti-Muslim website “JihadWatch”; he is also co-head of the “Stop Islamization of Nations”, “Stop Islamization of America”, and “American Freedom Defence Initiative” organisations. Spencer’s pivotal role in the multimillion-dollar international anti-Muslim propaganda network has been heavily documented. An extensive and fully-referenced list of examples of Spencer’s statements (a) demonising the entire Muslim population and (b) demonising the religion of Islam as a whole is available here.

2. Robert Spencer and “JihadWatch” were the most heavily cited sources of propaganda in the terrorist Anders Breivik’s manifesto; in fact, Breivik explicitly stated “About Islam, I recommend essentially everything written by Robert Spencer”.

3. Robert Spencer is formally allied with racist white supremacists and European neo-Nazis, and has even organised joint public demonstrations with them.

4. Robert Spencer is an ordained Catholic deacon (also see here) who has repeatedly made demonstrably false statements about Islam & Muslims (eg: see hereherehereherehere andhere) and repeatedly tried to hide the evidence when his misinformation was exposed. Spencer haspublicly admitted that his actions are heavily motivated by his [unilateral] agenda for the dominance of the Catholic Church.

5. Robert Spencer’s actions are in direct violation of official Vatican policy towards Islam and Muslims. Spencer’s actions also directly undermine the extensive Christian-Muslim interfaith bridge-building efforts of his own Catholic sect’s global leadership (see here and here) and indeed the admirable message promoted by Pope Francis himself (see herehere, and here).

6. Robert Spencer is now being publicly supported by Father C.J. McCloskey, a senior priest in the controversial Catholic organisation “Opus Dei” which is notoriously secretive about revealing the identities of its members. McCloskey has been described as “priest to Washington’s conservative establishment” and “the Catholic Church’s K Street lobbyist”. Promoting Spencer’s latest book in anarticle for the National Catholic Register, McCloskey made a series of extremely bigoted and derogatory statements about Islam and “the Muslims”. His actions are in direct violation of official Vatican policy along with the message promoted by Pope Francis.

7. In 2002-2003, Robert Spencer was an Adjunct Fellow at the Free Congress Foundation, an arm of the Heritage Foundation. Both organisations were founded by Paul Weyrich, a convert to the Melkite Greek Catholic Church, which is the same Catholic sect that Spencer belongs to; Weyrich was ordained as a protodeacon in this sect. The Anti-Defamation League identified the Free Congress Foundation and Weyrich himself as closely affiliated with “Dominionism”; furthermore, the ADL identified the FCF and Weyrich as part of an alliance of more than 50 of the most prominent conservative Christian leaders and organizations that threaten the separation of church and state in the US. The FCF’s strategic plan, whose authorship was guided by Weyrich and which was published in 2001, has been described as calling “for the use of deception, misinformation and divisiveness to allow conservative evangelical Christian Republicans to gain and keep control of seats of power in the government of the United States.” (Note: Dominionism is an extreme interpretation of Christian fundamentalism deriving from “Christian Reconstructionism”, which involves the belief that rule by non-Christians anywhere in the world is sacrilege, explicitly approves of the historical slavery of African-Americans, and openly advocates the replacement of American law with Old Testament injunctions including the death penalty for apostasy and homosexuality; Dominionism also claims that its adherents have a God-given mandate to infiltrate the highest echelons of power and subsequently impose their beliefs on the entire world).

8. Furthermore, Robert Spencer is on record as stating “Paul Weyrich taught me a great deal, by word and by example, about how to deal both personally and professionally with the slanders and smears that are a daily aspect of this work”. Spencer also named Weyrich as a mentor of his writings on Islam. Spencer’s first book on Islam was published in 2002. Weyrich himself is on record as making the following extremely anti-Semitic statements on his website shortly before Easter in 2001, in which he directly blamed “the Jews” for the death of Jesus: “Christ was crucified by the Jews…..He was not what the Jews had expected so they considered Him a threat. Thus He was put to death.” During the subsequent outrage (particularly from Jewish organisations) at Weyrich’s statements, he was defended by David Horowitz, Spencer’s boss. (Extensive further details on David Horowitz here).

9. Robert Spencer has been proven to have made completely false statements about historical Popes and major Jewish figures, and to have subsequently tried to conceal the evidence when his actions were exposed. Full details here and here.

10. Robert Spencer is not actually a “scholar of Islam” in any credible sense of the term; he has precisely zero academic, professional or linguistic qualifications in this subject, and therefore cannot credibly be described as a “scholar” or an “expert” in the matter at all. In fact, Spencer’s own alma mater, the University of North Carolina, have publicly described Spencer’s writings as “perpetuating a type of bigotry similar to anti-Semitism and racial prejudice. They are to be viewed with great suspicion by anyone who wishes to find reliable and scholarly information on the subject of Islam.”Full details here.

11. Robert Spencer’s anti-Muslim propaganda has been proven to be identical to the anti-Semitic propaganda of Julius Streicher, a Third Reich-era Nazi whom the US subsequently prosecuted at the Nuremberg Trials and convicted on the charge of crimes against humanity; even Spencer’s arguments in his own defence are identical to Streicher’s statements at the time.

12. Robert Spencer is on record as claiming that there is “no distinction in the American Muslim community between peaceful Muslims and jihadists”.

13. Robert Spencer is on record as denying the Srebrenica genocide, explicitly describing it as “the-genocide-that-never-was” and proposing “the possibility that Muslims could have carried out any deceptive atrocity-manufacturing in the Balkans”. (Also see here).

14. Robert Spencer is on record as repeatedly promoting the work and writings of Serge Trifkovic (also see here), the former spokesman for Radovan Karadzic, one of Serbian war criminals charged with genocide during the ethnic cleansing of Muslims in Bosnia; Spencer and Trifkovic have even held joint interviews and collaborated on an anti-Islam documentary film. Trifkovic is on record as making the following extremely anti-Semitic statements: “Since the late 1800’s the Jews have had a disproportionate impact on a host of intellectual trends and political movements which have fundamentally altered the civilization of Europe and its overseas offspring in a manner deeply detrimental to the family, nation, culture, racial solidarity, social coherence, tradition, morality and faith.”

15. Furthermore, Serge Trifkovic openly supports and defends Ratko Mladic, whom the United Nations Tribunal has indicted on 16 counts of genocide and war crimes. In 2003, Trifkovic appeared as a defence witness during the trial of Milomir Stakic at the Hague Tribunal; Stakic was subsequently found guilty of multiple counts of murder along with crimes against humanity such as extermination, persecutions and deportations. In 2008, Trifkovic appeared as a defence witness during the trial of Ljubisa Beara, who was subsequently convicted of genocide, extermination, murder and persecution. Trifkovic was also cited by Anders Breivik in his manifesto.

16. In 2009, Robert Spencer publicly admitted to having joined a genocidal white nationalist Facebook group titled “Campaign for the Reconquest in Anatolia”, whose mission statement openly advocates the ethnic cleansing, mass sterilisation and euthanasia of Turkey’s entire Muslim population, targeting “up to 150 million people”. Readers can draw their own conclusions about Spencer’s convoluted explanation after his actions were exposed. Full details here. Spencer’s own website has also promoted the aim of “freeing Constantinople from Muslim occupation” (eg: see this article written by Spencer).

17. Robert Spencer has made extremely disparaging statements about the prestigious West Point military institution and has described Far-Right terrorists in the United States as “ordinary Americans who believe in individual rights”. Full details here..

18. When the Washington Post asked Robert Spencer if he was being deliberately combative and provocative, Spencer chuckled and said “Why not ? It’s fun”.

19. According to BBC anchor Nicky Campbell during a “BBC 5Live” radio debate about the EDL on 9 October 2013 (see here), Stephen Yaxley-Lennon had told him that he was “a great admirer of Douglas Murray”, Associate Director of the Henry Jackson Society and contributing editor to theSpectator magazine; according to Campbell, Yaxley-Lennon subsequently claimed that their views were exactly the same. Murray also participated in the radio debate on 5Live, and subsequently wrote a fawning article supporting the “like-minded” Yaxley-Lennon. As extensively documented here, Murray is directly linked to Robert Spencer and has been heavily involved with the Robert Spencer-David Horowitz cabal for a number of years; Murray is also on record as enthusiastically praising Spencer. Kingston University’s Dr Marko Hoare, formerly a senior member of the Henry Jackson Society, writes on his own website: “The HJS is a UK think-tank frequently described as ‘neoconservative’…..It currently serves as a secretariat, at the House of Commons, to the All-Party Parliamentary Groups for Transatlantic and International Security and for Homeland Security.”

Pamela Geller:

1. The Board of Deputies of British Jews recently released a lengthy statement supporting Pamela Geller’s banning from the UK. Full details here. The article includes Geller’s own response to the Board’s statement, including the fact that Geller appears to blame Jews for the Holocaust.

2. Pamela Geller is the author of the virulently anti-Muslim website “Atlas Shrugs”; she is also co-head of the “Stop Islamization of Nations”, “Stop Islamization of America”, and “American Freedom Defence Initiative” organisations. An extensive and fully-referenced list of examples of Geller’s statements (a) demonising the entire Muslim population and (b) demonising the religion of Islam as a whole is available here.

3. Pamela Geller has repeatedly made demonstrably false statements about Islam & Muslims, and repeatedly tried to hide the evidence when her misinformation was exposed.

4. Pamela Geller has repeatedly made false statements about her own actions, despite the fact that her extensive anti-Islam/anti-Muslim writings are a matter of public record.

5. Pamela Geller was repeatedly cited by Anders Breivik in his manifesto.

6. After Breivik’s terrorist attack in Norway, Pamela Geller wrote an article claiming that the victims (predominantly children) were not innocent; she also included a photograph with the caption “Note the faces which are more Middle Eastern or mixed than pure Norwegian”. Full details here.

7. Pamela Geller is formally allied with racist white supremacists and European neo-Nazis; she has even organised joint public demonstrations with them, and then tried to hide the evidence when her allies’ explicitly Nazi sympathies were publicly exposed.

8. Pamela Geller is now on record as publicly advocating what is effectively a “Final Solution” targeting British Muslims, including mass-murder.

9. Pamela Geller is on record as insisting “There are no moderates. There are no extremists. There are only Muslims”.

10. Pamela Geller is on record as denying the Srebrenica genocide, describing it as a “fabricated narrative”, a “lie”, and a “manufactured genocide” that is part of a “classic Islamic modus operandi of self-killing and manipulating media coverage”. Geller is also on record as defending the Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic. Extensive details here.

David Yerushalmi:

1. David Yerushalmi is Robert Spencer & Pamela Geller’s lawyer. He has been directly involved in supporting the SION/SIOA/AFDI leadership.

2. David Yerushalmi heads an organisation whose mission statement explicitly declares that its [currently unidentified] members are “dedicated to the rejection of democracy” in the United States.

3. David Yerushalmi believes that American women shouldn’t even have the right to vote.

4. David Yerushalmi is on record as claiming that there is a racial hierarchy of intelligence, with black people at the bottom.

5. David Yerushalmi is General Counsel for Frank Gaffney’s Center for Security Policy, an extreme right-wing organisation actively trying to infiltrate & influence US domestic, foreign and (particularly) military policy; the CSP’s financiers include a number of the largest weapons manufacturers in the world.

6. The Center for Security Policy is also the main source of the ridiculous conspiracy theories about “Muslim Brotherhood infiltration” of the Obama Administration.

7. Frank Gaffney himself was recently exposed as having attended networking events organised by David Cole (aka “David Stein”), a high-profile (and unrepentant) Holocaust revisionist. Commenting on Cole’s views on the Holocaust, Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Centre, stated “I’m very disappointed that someone who abused his Jewishness to get his five minutes of notoriety still stands by his lies. It’s disgusting and puts him in the camp of bigotry.”

8. According to the New York Times, Frank Gaffney is David “Yerushalmi’s primary link to a network of former and current government officials, security analysts and grass-roots political organizations” and is also able to tap “a network of Tea Party and Christian groups as well as ACT! for America, which has 170,000 members”.

9. Despite the fact that David Yerushalmi, Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer publicly claim to be staunch supporters of the concept of “freedom of speech” and refer to this concept when justifying their own actions, they keep threatening to sue people who exercise their own freedom of speech against them.

“Ali Sina”:

1. “Ali Sina” is currently unidentified.

2. “Ali Sina” is named as a Board member of Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller’s “Stop Islamization of Nations” and “Stop Islamization of America” organisations.

3. “Ali Sina” was cited by Anders Breivik in his manifesto.

4. “Ali Sina” claims to be an “atheist”, but his own writings expose him as a fanatical Christian extremist; he also bizarrely keeps comparing his own experiences to those of Jesus.

5. “Ali Sina” is repeatedly on record as promoting the genocide of Muslims, claiming that Muslims are “diseased”, “infected”, bereft of “every trace of humanity”, “all guilty as sin”, and must be “amputated”.

6. “Ali Sina” is on record as claiming that the Prophet Mohammad was “an instrument of Satan” and that it is a “demonic plot to end humanity”.

7. “Ali Sina” is on record as exhibiting extremely anti-Semitic attitudes, claiming that the Prophet Mohammad “copied his religion from what he learned from the Jews”, “The similarity between Islamic thinking and Judaic thinking is not a coincidence”, “Islam and Judaism have a lot in common…..the main common feature between these two faiths is their intolerance”, “This intolerance in Judaic texts gave the narcissist Muhammad the power to do as he pleased…..How could he get away with that ? The answer lies in Judaism…..The reason Arabs fell into his [Mohammad’s] trap was because of the groundwork laid by the Rabbis in Arabia”.

********************************************************************************************************

ENGLISH DEFENCE LEAGUE LEADERSHIP:

1. Ex-EDL leaders Stephen Yaxley-Lennon and Kevin Carroll are still listed as members of the “Stop Islamization of Nations (“SION”) Presidents Council”.

2. Stephen Yaxley-Lennon and Kevin Carroll are therefore still formally allied with racist white supremacists and European neo-Nazis; they have also organised joint public demonstrations with the aforementioned neo-Nazis, in conjunction with Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller (who were also present).

3. Stephen Yaxley-Lennon has been prosecuted and convicted for illegally travelling to the US using a false passport in order to attend an anti-Muslim conference hosted by Robert Spencer, Pamela Geller and David Yerushalmi in New York in September 2012. Full details herehereherehere, andhere.

4. Kevin Carroll is on record as ranting about non-Christians being “pagans” whom he will “never bend or bow to”; Pamela Geller, David Yerushalmi and David Horowitz are of course non-Christians themselves, as are Quilliam’s Maajid Nawaz and Usama Hasan. Kevin Carroll also gave a speech at the aforementioned anti-Muslim conference in New York, a fact that Geller enthusiastically publicisedon her own website.

5. Kevin Carroll is on record as labelling all Muslims as “backward savages, a devil-spawned death-cult worshipping all that is barbaric and unholy. Pure evil”.

6. On a personal note, as a Sikh I’d like to mention that the EDL leadership were forcefully condemned in a joint statement by a very long list of British Sikh temples and organisations, including the two largest Sikh temples outside India. The signatories also included the most senior Sikh religious leader outside India; he is (a) closely linked to the global Sikh authorities at the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar, and personally represents the global Sikh community at the Parliament of the World’s Religions, (b) the recipient of an award from England’s Queen Elizabeth II due to hisGuru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha organisation’s humanitarian activities, and (c) the recipient of the rare honour of being one of the few non-Catholics whom the Vatican has formally declared a Knight of the Papal Order of St Gregory, due to his exemplary efforts to promote peace between people of all religions.

7. The EDL leadership were also publicly condemned by the Israeli Embassy and more than a dozen major Jewish organisations in the UK, including the Board of Deputies of British Jews, the Jewish Council for Racial Equality, the Community Security Trust, and Jews for Justice for Palestinians. (Alsosee here.)

8. The EDL’s ex-leadership are on record as repeatedly admitting that their agenda is racially-motivated; Stephen Yaxley-Lennon himself is on record as repeatedly racially abusing black people on Twitter, and he is also on record as repeatedly making public statements clearly demonstrating that he is using the terms “Muslim” and “Islam/Islamic” as codewords for “South Asian”; furthermore, Yaxley-Lennon is on record as publicly accusing “every single Muslim” of collective guilt and simultaneously threatening the entire “Islamic community” with retribution involving “the full force of the English Defence League”. Further details hereherehereherehereherehereherehere, here, and here. (Also refer to this article.)

9. Stephen Yaxley-Lennon is on record as publicly promoting neo-Nazi, anti-Semitic, white supremacist websites and organisations, in one instance citing defamatory material from such websites live on the BBC in front of millions of British viewers, and subsequently promoting the same neo-Nazi website online; further details of such incidents are available here and here. (Also see hereand here.)

10. During an EDL demonstration in London in May 2013, a major British news channelphotographed multiple EDL members openly doing Nazi salutes in Stephen Yaxley-Lennon’s immediate vicinity; Yaxley-Lennon is the man in the brown army/camouflage jacket surrounded by EDL members.

11. Stephen Yaxley-Lennon is on record as giving an interview to the Norwegian media in which he publicly praised Anders Breivik, promoted Breivik’s manifesto, and claimed Breivik’s mass-murdering terrorist attack would have been “easier to justify” if the people killed had been Muslims. Full details here and here.

12. EDL co-founder Richard Price is a convicted criminal on multiple counts of downloading child pornography; at the time, Stephen Yaxley-Lennon first tried to cover this up, and then launched a campaign to try to free Price from prison. Details here and here. The EDL leadership also released an official statement defending Price, written by Yaxley-Lennon (screenshot here).

13. The EDL leadership were deputy leaders of the now-defunct “British Freedom Party”, a white supremacist Far-Right political party in the UK whose extremely discriminatory religious policies targeted everyone who was not a Christian (including Jews, Hindus and Sikhs) and their respective places of worship. Furthermore, BFP chairman Paul Weston is on record as revealing his real views in an article titled “Ethnically Cleansing the English”, published on the extremely anti-Muslim websiteGates of Vienna in March 2010; Weston’s article is openly racist. The article also repeatedly implies that non-white people are automatically “Muslim”, whom Weston proceeds to stereotype and demonise in the worst terms. (Also see here). Weston was present alongside Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, Kevin Carroll, Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller when they hosted a demonstration in Europe which they had organised in conjunction with European neo-Nazis.

14. An extensive list of the criminal records of EDL members is available here, including details of the criminal convictions of the EDL leadership themselves (especially Stephen Yaxley-Lennon). Members of the EDL have been prosecuted and convicted for murder, arson, assault, human trafficking, child abuse, and child pornography.

15. Following his resignation from the EDL, Stephen Yaxley-Lennon is now on record as telling the BBC “I am not ashamed, no, I am proud I started [the EDL]”. Yaxley-Lennon also confirmed that his views have “not changed” since quitting the EDL. He made these statements during an interview on the high-profile “Daily Politics” programme, speaking to anchor Jo Coburn.

16. Robert Spencer is on record as claiming that “the EDL deserves the support of all free people”.

17. The EDL’s allies and apologists have claimed that it is a “working class” organisation; Robert Spencer is even on record as recently describing the EDL as “made up of people from a lower social class” and claiming that opposition to the EDL is therefore based on “class” issues. Douglas Murray is on record as previously commending some aspects of the EDL, stating “If you’re ever going to have a grassroots response for non-Muslims to Islamism, that would be how you’d want it, surely.” However, a Sunday Times investigation exposed some very revealing facts about several of the EDL leadership’s wealthy British backers, particularly Alan Ayling (aka “Alan Lake”) and Ann Marchini. Furthermore, despite Stephen Yaxley-Lennon’s efforts to portray himself as “working class”, along with his claims that he “has no money”, during a televised BBC debate in June 2013 Yaxley publicly admitted that one of his businesses turns over £300,000/year (video footage here; see 22m onwards); on 1 July 2013, Yaxley also admitted online that he actually “owns 7 properties which are all rented out”, with “taxable income”.

18. Stephen Yaxley-Lennon publicly claims that he does not eat halal food due to concerns about “animal rights”. He reiterated his alleged opposition to halal food during the recent BBC documentary, and was filmed repeatedly refusing to eat with Muslims participating in the documentary. However, Yaxley-Lennon subsequently bragged on Twitter about eating chicken at a popular restaurant where all the meat is actually halal. In fact, Yaxley-Lennon has been openly eating halal food for several years; for example, see the evidence in the “Updated” section at the end this article from September 2011.

Crumbling “Counterjihad”? EDL, SION, SIOA and the Transatlantic Kerfuffle

Crumbling “Counterjihad”? EDL, SION, SIOA and the Transatlantic Kerfuffle

By Garibaldi

We have noted the unstable nature of the “counter-jihad” fascist movement since the day Loonwatch began. Cracks and fissures between various groups and websites were apparent from the start.

One of the first to depart the “counter-Jihad” was Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs (LGF) who has continued to expose the extremism of former allies Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller.

It was Charles Johnson who first alerted us to the fact that Robert Spencer had joined a group calling for the extermination of Turks and the Reconquista of Anatolia. For this revelation Spencer and Geller have been relentless in their vitriolic demonization of Johnson, regarding him not only as an apostate but also– their favorite epithet– “dhimmi.”

The reasons for the inherent instability in the “counter-Jihad” reflects the fissures in ideological make up between the various personalities, as well as incongruities between their inflated egos.

A brief history of the internecine civil wars amongst the counter-Jihad on this point is informative: Debbie Schlussel vs.: Brigitte GabrielPamela Geller, Robert Spencer, Zuhdi JasserWalid Shoebat, etc. Logan’s Warning against Brigitte GabrielSpencer vs. Andrew BostomRoberta Moore of the JDL vs. the EDL and now the latest kerfuffle: Geller and Spencer vs. Tommy Robinson and Kevin Carroll.

All that binds them is Islamomisia and Islamophobia. On the surface their ideological backgrounds provide a motive: a belief in the need to preserve Christianity in the face of post-Modernity and a rise in Secular Humanism, a belief that it is good for Israel and Zionism, a desire to keep White Europe pure, the nostalgic belief that they are the vanguard “defenders of freedom” who will not only save the “West” from a resurgent Islam but harken in a golden age and if not–Armageddon.

When you dig a little deeper underneath the surface of ideology and identity politics one sees there is another more primitive motive at work; garnering dead presidents and Euros.

Recenlty, I have taken an interest in the famous medieval Muslim theologian Ghazali who it seems to me has identified, in universal terms, the reasons for the sickness that pervades the Islamophobia movement:

“The greatest of all desires is ravenousness, the source of all spiritual maladies, followed, in second order, by lasciviousness. Ardently seeking to fulfill these desires inevitably involves one in garnering wealth, in turn leading to indulgence in both spheres. It appears Ghazali posits a causal link between these two instincts, on the one hand, and the personal desire to acquire power and influence, on the other. To protect wealth and power, it is inevitable for the covetous individual to engage in competition and envy, which in turn engender greed, hypocrisy, arrogance, and hatred. And once these become habits of the soul, it is a short step for the individual to be implicated in morally repugnant acts.” (Hallaq, The Impossible State, p.131)

“Counter-Jihad” is a lucrative business as the reports by Fear, inc. and CAIR have made plain. The economy of Islamophobia isn’t going out of business anytime soon as long as wealthy Right-Wing foundations and individuals continue to support the industry.

Ex-EDL Tommy Robinson/Stephen Yaxley-Lennon and Kevin Carroll Haven’t Changed

It has been two weeks since the announcement by former EDL chief Tommy Robinson and Kevin Carroll that they were leaving the organization. In that time there have been several major developments, including the supposed termination of an official relationship between Geller/Spencer and Robinson and even accusations that Robinson is a poster boy for “stealth Jihad.” (h/t: Jai Singh)

Tommy Robinson and Kevin Carroll’s closest international allies, Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller, have publicly terminated their involvement with them and thrown them off the board of their “SION Presidents Council”. Geller has announced this in an article published on her Atlas Shrugs website.

The reason is partly due to Robinson and Carroll’s current involvement with Quilliam and Mo Ansar(Geller’s full article provides further details), but apparently it also has a lot to do with some statements Robinson made to The Daily Beast, specifically the reasons that he has been refusing to publicly denounce Spencer & Geller. Furthermore, Geller herself makes some accusations about the real reasons for Robinson’s resignation from the EDL.

Pamela Geller: A month ago, Tommy Robinson called me…..Not being on the ground in the UK, and having worked with him at a distance for four years, I understood his concerns, and looked forward to a new organization — perhaps even SIO-England. I did not know when he was going to make his move away from the EDL, and he did not tell me. The only thing he told me was that he was going to make the break before his upcoming court case — perhaps to incur the sympathy of the court.

Then, the night before he made his announcement, Tommy tried to contact me numerous times on Skype and by phone while I was busy with other matters. It was clear that it was urgent. Finally, we spoke on the phone, and it was on that phone call that he told me that he would be resigning from the EDL the next day, and that the Quilliam Foundation was going to be at the press conference — but he made that a minor point. I had no idea that it was a Quilliam press conference, and certainly had no idea that Tommy and Kevin Carroll would be led around like dogs 0n a leash. It was after that phone call, and before I had any idea that Tommy would be closely allying with false moderate Muslim deceivers who would crow about “decapitating the EDL,” that Robert Spencer and I composed our first statement, supporting Tommy and his decision. We never would have come out in support of him if we had known that he would soon be parroting politically correct nonsense about “extremists on both sides.”

Tommy told me that his move would not be announced until 6PM London time the next day, and asked me to hold our statement until then, but when I woke up the next morning, it was already all over the international media. That was the first indication that he had not been entirely up front with me about what was happening. Then at the press conference, both he and Kevin Carroll were the showcases of a Quilliam victory dance.

…..I only subsequently learned, after releasing our initial statement of support, that he had been meeting with Islamic supremacist deceivers like Mo Ansar for 18 months, and was taking instruction on Islam from the false moderates of the Quilliam Foundation. And I didn’t hear about it from Tommy, who never gave me any hint of any of this — I read about it in the press along with everyone else.

…..He made a deal with the devil. He didn’t want to go back to jail, and this looks like his bid to stay out.

Today at the Daily Beast, the gleeful reporter doesn’t quote Robinson, but says that he “distanced himself from some of Geller’s most egregious remarks.” I challenge the Daily Beast reporter to produce the quotes. What exactly did Tommy distance himself from? And then he quotes Tommy explaining why he won’t denounce me now: “I went to America to speak at one of their events. I feel indebted to Pamela. I have a great deal of respect for her personally because she helped my family when I was in custody. She provided a roof over our head.” This cop-out from Tommy — that he wouldn’t denounce me because I supported him financially — was the lowest blow of all. I was not supporting the EDL financially. We gave some money to his wife and kids when Tommy was in jail. And Tommy has said that before, implying that his loyalty was bought, and was not because of ideological agreement. He’s been using the quiet help I gave to his wife and kids as one mom to another. I didn’t do that for the organization. I did that as a human being.

It is clear what is happening. Now he is the poster boy for the stealth jihad. It seems they have taught Tommy well. His deception to friends and colleagues mirrors the Islamic teachings of kitman (lie by omission) and taqiyya. So Tommy Robinson and Kevin Carroll are no longer on the SION board.

According to the Huffington Post Robinson has claimed that the EDL’s publicly pro-Israel stance was to garnish support and “attract funding from Zionist organizations.” [which failed to materialize in the way that he had hoped]

Robinson also appeared as a guest on the BBC’s “Sunday Morning Live” program on October 13th, discussing “Does the English Defence League represent a view that needs to be heard?”:

– There is very little change in Robinson’s anti-Muslim views. He is simply expressing them more carefully.
– Throughout the discussion, Robinson essentially continues accusing the entire Muslim population of collective guilt and collective responsibility.
– 12m 30s: Robinson describes the Quran as “extremely evil”.
– 20m 08s: Robinson claims “There are two types of Muslims: Radicals/extremists and apologists”.
– 21m 10s onwards: Robinson enthusiastically praises the EDL, including its current demonstrations.
– Debate continues from 53m 40s onwards: Robinson claims that he will not give the Police any incriminating “inside information” on EDL members.

Robinson has not changed, he admits that he is only shifting tactics.:BWcKzlBCUAApM_S

Spencer and Geller have co-authored a detailed statement, cross-published on their respective websites. They excoriate Robinson for being an ignorant, gullible lad who has facilitated the “decapitation of the EDL” and has capitulated to the government funded Quilliam which they laughably describe as representing the “forces of Jihad and Islamic supremacism.”

Richard Bartholomew has also published an excellent article highlighting Spencer & Geller’s other statements on the matter, including Spencer’s confirmation that Robinson “has repeatedly stated that he hasn’t changed his views.”

Robert Spencer himself has now written an article on these developments. Spencer’s indignant, confused and “betrayed” reaction is definitely worth reading. Seems that Robinson’s “secret” discussions with the popular British Muslim commentator Mo Ansar during the past 18 months are a particularly sore point.

Tommy Robinson is continuing to refuse to denounce Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller.

TellMAMA’s new article documenting Robinson’s continuing behaviour on his new Twitter account. Take particular note of the recent screenshot where Robinson claims that his time with Mo Ansar has actually strengthened his opposition to Islam.

Note on the Quilliam Foundation:

The Guardian has an excellent summary of the plausible reasons for the organization’s new found involvement with Robinson and Carroll, specifically detailing the problems that Quilliam has recently been experiencing.

Another Guardian article includes revealing information about “the next steps” involving Quilliam and Robinson, including the fact that Robinson has contradicted his statements on the BBC regarding cooperation with the Police:

[Maajid] Nawaz said he would work to introduce [Tommy] Robinson to his own contacts in government and the Home Office in an attempt to procure government funding. Robinson said his future work would involve taking on radicalism on all fronts, although he could not support anti-fascist groups because they also subscribed to “communism” or were “anarchists”.

When pressed as to whether he would work with the police to root out criminal racists in the group he helped form four years ago, he agreed he would now talk to the authorities.

Robinson, whose financial assets have been frozen because of ongoing criminal proceedings for public order offences, said he did not doubt he would be successful again in any endeavour he pursued as long as he was passionate about it.

Hate Group Leader Cited By Terrorist to Headline Catholic Homeschool Conference

Spencer is working hard to disassociate himself from one of his fans

Hate Group Leader Cited By Terrorist to Headline Catholic Homeschool Conference

by Nathan Lean (Huffington Post)

During the last weekend in July, The Kolbe Academy, a Catholic homeschool program located in Napa, California will host a conference in Sacramento where educators and home school instructors will gather to discuss how they can “engage the culture in a year of faith.”

Ordinarily, such a program would come and go unnoticed. But this year, featured amongst a lineup of distinguished speakers, is Robert Spencer, a controversial anti-Muslim blogger who civil rights organizations including the Southern Poverty Law Center and Anti-Defamation League label a “hate group leader.” This places him in close proximity to KKK leaders, the Black Panther Party, and neo-Nazi groups.

His scheduled appearance casts a negative light on what should be a positive event. It also raises questions about why a man whose writing was cited thirteen dozen times by the Norway terrorist Anders Breivik, who slaughtered 77 youth campers in Oslo in 2010, was ever invited to speak about youth education in the first place.

Spencer, a Catholic deacon from New Hampshire and director of the blacklist blog Jihad Watch, is set to appear as part of a speaking lineup that includes prominent clergy and educators from all across the United States. Once the director of Kolbe Academy, where he also served as a history and classics teacher, his publications include “Classical Education in the Contemporary World” and “How to Introduce Your Child to Classical Music in 52 Easy Lessons.”

In recent years, though, his focus on Bach, Beethoven and the teachings of St. Ignatius have given way to a more pernicious fixation: “creeping Sharia,” “stealth jihad,” and the supposed threat of radical Muslims in the United States.

Spencer’s imbalanced and perverted writings on Islam, which focus entirely on violence, and his work alongside anti-Muslim activist Pamela Geller, have led the federal government to reject the trademark application for his hate group, Stop the Islamization of America.

The ruling states that the group disparages Muslims. Given that one board member, John Jay, once recommended burning all mosques and sending Muslim immigrants “back to their countries,” it’s not hard to see why.

This week, the British government served Mr. Spencer with a travel ban, forbidding him to enter the country ahead of a scheduled rally with the English Defence League. The group’s leader, Tommy Robinson, has served prison time for passport fraud and been arrested for assault. Its members assaulted police officers with pig heads.

In addition to trolling Twitter and antagonizing his detractors with endless (and elementary) tirades of Nazi references and other name-calling, Spencer, who claims to be a “scholar,” has argued that there is no distinction between American Muslims and radical, violent jihadists. To that end, he’s marshaled public stunts that seek to advance that wild claim.

He and Geller were behind the raucous Park 51 protests in Manhattan in 2010, and the duo recently took their battle to metro and bus stops in major metropolitan cities, including Washington, D.C., San Francisco, and New York.

Controversial advertisements sponsored by the pair equated Muslims with savages and presented violent acts of notorious terrorists like Osama bin Laden as normative of the world’s 1.3 billion Muslims.

At a recent town forum on Muslim civil liberties in Tennessee, their supporters shouted down speakers and verbally abused police officers. They cheered at slideshow images of burned down mosques and booed at pics of American Muslim soldiers.

All of this begs very obvious questions: Is this the type of person with whom the Kolbe Academy and Catholic homeschoolers in California want to be associated? What could Spencer possibly say about classical education or Catholic values that would diminish his stature as a man banned by foreign governments, cited by global terrorists, and championed by prejudiced individuals who spread their vile in the bowels of the blogosphere?

There is a more important question, though. Did the Kolbe Academy know of Spencer’s background before they invited him? And if so, why did they proceed with a speaking invitation? What does that say about their organization?

David Duke, the notorious Grand Wizard and white supremacist, had political experience but no one would dare seek his advice or remarks on politics at a public gathering because of his associations with the nastiest aspects of our country’s history.

If any religious group in the United States understands the harmful effects of prejudice, it is Catholics. Throughout the 1900s, they were on the receiving end of the same stereotypes and associations that Spencer aims at Muslims today.

The Santa Rosa Diocese, which governs the Kolbe Academy, should follow the actions of the Worcester Diocese in Massachusetts, which rescinded Spencer’s invitation to speak at a men’s conference in Massachusetts in March. The Sacramento Diocese, which governs St. Stephen The First Martyr Parish, the parish where the event will be held, should do the same.

Hate speech has no place in any religious institution, Islamic, Christian, Jewish, or otherwise, and it is incumbent on leaders in all faith communities to reject it.

Rev. Deacon Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller Banned From the UK For Inciting Hatred

By Garibaldi

The United Kingdom has a very explicit policy of not allowing hate preachers and inciters of violence to enter their nation. It is in this vein that the UK has announced another massive blow to the merchants of Islamophobic hate and fear; Rev. Deacon Robert Spencer and his close companionPamela Geller have been banned from entering the UK to speak at a rally for the extremist English Defence League.

Guardian political columnist Sunny Hundal has the initial details,

Both Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer have been banned from entering the UK by the Home Office, after a campaign by the anti-racist group Hope Not Hate.

Both bloggers posted letters to their websites today, from the Home Office, stating that they had been banned from entering.

Letter to Robert Spencer

Letter to Pamela Geller

The duo were invited to speak at a rally by the English Defence League.

The letter stated:

After careful consideration, she [the Home Secretary] personally directed that you should be excluded from the United Kingdom on the grounds that your presence here is not conducive to the public good.

The Home Secretary has reached this decision because you have brought yourself within the scope of the list of unacceptable behaviours by making statements that may foster hatred which might lead to inter-community violence in the UK.

Pamela Geller has been exposed as repeatedly publishing false stories about Muslims in order to stir up hatred.

The BBC and Huffington Post have also covered the story.

Hope Not Hate presented a dossier to the Home Office on the anti-Muslim Crusader ideology that spurs both Spencer and Geller as well as a petition signed by 10,000 concerned UK citizens that decisively persuaded the Home Office to condemn and ban the pair.

The work of Loonwatch and Spencerwatch were also used by the Home Secretary as major sources that informed them of the vile, Islamophobic nature of the two hate group leaders, aiding in today’s outcome.

Of course the predictable reaction from Rev. Deacon Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller has been to madly rant and rave at Hope Not Hate and its founder Nick Lowles about “darkness” and “untold misery” and “subjugation and enslavement.” They just cannot countenance that their brand of hate is continuously being defeated and relegated to the dustbin of hate history–where it belongs.

Ahavath Torah Congregation and Great Neck Synagogue Give Platform to Hate Group Leaders

It is sad and dangerous when a religious institution actively allows itself to be used as a platform for hate-mongers who have inspired terrorists and incite hatred and prejudice against Muslims.

Ahavath Torah Synagogue, led by the Betraying Rabbi Jon Hausman has a long history of allowing itself to be used in such a way, for instance making the pulpit available to the likes of Geert “no religious freedom for Muslims” Wilders and Wafa “nuke ‘em” Sultan.

Both Ahavath Torah Synagogue and Great Neck Synagogue should be ashamed of themselves; real embarrassments to Judaism.

#MyJihad: San Francisco Tells Hate Group Leaders Pamela Geller & Robert Spencer To Hit The Road

MyJihad4

We covered the #MyJihad ad campaign back in December, a campaign that seeks to reclaim the term Jihad from Muslim and anti-Muslim extremists alike. The response from Islamophobes has been nothing short of shrill, quixotically they want nothing more than to highlight and advance the “Jihad of Bin Laden as the correct Jihad.”:

These advertisements challenge the prevailing idea about Jihad being foremost about “Holy War,” a view which is most enthusiastically propagated by the hate group AFDI/SIOA and their founders Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer (whose Ad campaigns this past year have sent an opposite message of hate and racism.)

In response to the bus ads Islamophobes are going berserk, which is understandable as they have pegged their careers and lives on demonizing Islam and Muslims. The question I would ask is: If Muslims are telling you that they don’t believe in the “Jihad” of Bin Laden why tell them they have their religion wrong? What interest does it serve Geller and Spencer to propagate the Jihad of Bin Laden as the correct Jihad? That seems to be the height of absurd Islamophobia.

Recently, Geller and Spencer have put up response ads to the #MyJihad campaign, however not only have they been shown to be the kooks that they are but the money they spent on the ads are being used to fund Human Rights research on discrimination against Muslims!

Controversial ad campaign appears on San Francisco buses

by Claudine Zap

Bus ads many believe are anti-Muslim have roared into San Francisco. The campaign, sponsored by the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), includes one running on 10 of the city’s Muni buses with an image of Osama bin Laden, the burning twin towers and the tagline, “That’s his jihad. What’s yours?”

The ads supposedly quote from extremists. One attributes a statement from the militant group Hamas, which reads: “Killing Jews is worship that brings us closer to Allah.”

AFDI had beat back an attempt by New York City’s transit authority to block a similar campaign in that city’s subway system. Comparable ads have run in Chicago and Washington, D.C.

San Francisco officials have condemned the campaign, but they have allowed them to run. The $5,000 the group paid to Muni will go to the Human Rights Commission to study discrimination against the Islamic community, according to the city.

“These offensive ads serve no purpose than to denigrate our city’s Arab and Muslim communities,” District Attorney George Gascon told local ABC News on Monday. The city has also created a campaign of its own to counter the ads.

“Counterjihad” Connection to Sandyhook Massacre?: Anders Breivik’s Articles Found in Adam Lanza’s Bedroom

connecticut-lanza-_2430767b

Law enforcement sources have uncovered several articles about Anders Behring Breivik, the Norwegian anti-Muslim/Leftists terrorist in the bedroom of killer Adam Lanza.

Breivik killed over 60 children and young adults on Utoya island, but did Lanza have a motive that included an affinity to the ideology of “counterjihad?” Or was Lanza simply inspired by Breivik to murder children, to compete in killing the most people possible?

Were Sandy Hook Killings Inspired by Norwegian Massacre?

by Sarah Moughty (Frontline PBS)

New reports tonight suggest that Adam Lanza’s killing spree at Sandy Hook Elementary School may have been sparked by a July 2011 shooting and bombing attack in Norway that killed 77 people.

Law enforcement sources told The Hartford Courant that police investigators found several articles about Anders Behring Breivik, the Norwegian man convicted of the attack, in Lanza’s bedroom. However, those sources stressed that Lanza’s interest in Breivik is just one theory when it comes to the question of what motivated the massacre at Sandy Hook. CBS News reported Monday that Lanza “saw himself as being in direct competition” with Breivik.

Tomorrow night, The Courant and FRONTLINE team up to investigate the young man, his mother and the town he changed forever in Raising Adam Lanza.

The film is part of PBS’s “After Newtown” initiative, a series of documentaries, news reports and public affairs programs that provide thought-provoking context to the national conversation about gun violence in America. Check your local listings to find out when it’s on in your area.

Geller & Spencer promote Muslim “collective guilt” over a FB post

Geller & Spencer promote Muslim “collective guilt” over a FB post

by Sheila Musaji
Pamela Geller posted an article Dearborn Muslim calls for killing anti-Islam protesters and her partner in the AFDI hate group posted an article with the same title.

They reprinted an article by David Wood which included a screen grab of this FaceBook post:

This is a hateful message.  The individual responsible should be ashamed.  If there are any FaceBook regulations that he has violated, he should lose his ability to post.  However, this single hateful message was all that it took for Geller & Spencer to not only post articles including the “Muslim” description, but also to tweet on the #MyJihad hashtag

Spencer asked “Will Dearborn authorities investigate Aboudi Berro? Don’t hold your breath.”  Geller said: “Islam in America. Respect it.”

So, according to them, this tweet by one individual jerk somehow is representative of “Islam in America” and this should be investigated by local law enforcement.

I wonder why their concern is always so selective, and only focuses on Muslims who behave badly.

Here are a just a few tweets from Islamophobic spammers on the #MyJihad site:

Would Geller and Spencer agree that all of these are hateful?  If so, why do such statements not concern them?  Would a headline like “Christian calls for killing Muslims” serve any purpose.  Are all Christians or all Jews somehow responsible for the bigotry of some?  Should all of these individuals also be investigated?  If they are not investigated is that “proof” of some Christian conspiracy to impose their will on non-Christians.

I doubt that they would be concerned, as some of their own AFDI/SIOA/SION leadership have previously suggested genocide, wiping out Muslim “bacteria” and “destroying Islam”.

This is pure hatred.

Remove Hate Group Leader Robert Spencer as Catholic Deacon

Target: Most Reverend Bishop Nicholas J. Samra and Eparchy of Newton
Sponsored by: Jenny Sessoms
Robert Bruce Spencer, an ordained Catholic deacon at Our Lady of the Cedars Catholic Church in Manchester, New Hampshire is classified by the Southern Poverty Law Center and other civil rights organiations as a “hate group leader.”

His writing, which targets Muslims and the religion of Islam, was cited extensively by the Norwegian mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik, who digested Spencer’s views on Islam and slaughtered 77 people, mostly youth.

Robert Spencer is one of the individuals behind the inflammatory anti-Muslim metro and bus ads in New York, California, and Washington.

His organization, Stop the Islamization of America, was refused a trademark by the Federal Government because the group engaged in what the government deemed “hate speech.”

As Catholics and people of all faiths, we believe that our religious traditions deserves better. We believe that Mr. Spencer’s constant provocations and inflammatory comments about Muslims and their religious beliefs, as well as his associations with radical nationalist groups such as the English Defence League, cast a negative and unncessarily poor light on Our Lady of the Cedars church, the Melkite Catholic tradition, and the religion of Catholicism.

We also believe that Deacons and clergy should represent the loving spirit of God and that they have a responsibility to build bridges with people of other faiths, not burn them. We recognize that while we may have faith differences with our brothers and sisters in other traditions, those differences must be respected.

Clergy must not engage publically in confrontational battles, ideological or political, and prejudice has no place in our tradition.

We call of the Most Reverend Bishop Nicholas J. Samra and the Eparchy of Newton to carefully examine the biography of Robert Bruce Spencer, his remarks about Muslims, his blog Jihad Watch, his associations with such groups and individuals as the English Defence League and Pamela Geller, his status as a “hate group leader” and his connections to the mass murderer Anders Breivik.

We call on the Eparchy to remember that Catholics were once subjected to religious prejudice and discrimination and thus they (and especially not their clergy) should be know of its harmful effects, and the pain caused by those who fearmonger and stereotype.

We call on the Eparchy and Bishop Samra to remove Robert Bruce Spencer as a Deacon of the Our Lady of the Cedars Melkite Catholic Church in Manchester, New Hampshire. We pray that the Church will hold firm its moral obligation to be a beacon of hope and light, not division and mistrust.

Sincerely,

Pamela Geller Defends Kevin Carroll’s Statement that Muslims Are “All Fuckin’ Backward Savages”

Robert Spencer - Kevin Carroll - Pamela Geller - Stephen Yaxley-Lennon - Stockholm August 2012

Pamela Geller reaffirms what is evident and a fact we noted from the beginning, her usage of the term “savages,” despite her lying denials, is in reference to all Muslims and Arabs.

Jai Singh initially alerted us to the reports regarding the arrest of Kevin Caroll for posting a racist and anti-Muslim screed on Facebook. Geller has leapt to Caroll’s defense, as well as the language he used in his Facebook posting.

Kevin Caroll’s initial post which was accompanied by inflammatory anti-Muslim material:

“They are all backward savages, a devil-spawned death-cult worshipping all that is barbaric and unholy. Pure evil”

In characteristic shrill, drooling and Goebbelsesque rhetoric Geller comments:

“Joining the co-founder of the EDL in prison, Kevin Carroll has been arrested for a Facebook comment. This is part of the war on freedom and its champions.

“Kevin Carroll and Tommy Robinson are on the SION President’s Council and are true fighters for freedom. They oppose the oppression, subjugation and racism of Islamic supremacism. But the savages have succeeded in imposing the sharia – hence their arrests.

“Apparently Kevin Carroll used the word I made famous in our AFDI ads, ‘savage’. And got arrested. The savages didn’t like it. The [sic] is blasphemy enforcement by dhimmi law enforcment. But their instructions came from on high. Shocking. If the Brits don’t fight back, it’s over for them.”
